SeaMotions - OUTREMER 45 DANSON – 2003 –
The Outremer 45 Danson design is a classic in the world of performance bluewater catamarans. Created by Gérard Danson, the founder of Outremer, it embodies his philosophy that a true cruising catamaran should be light, seaworthy, and capable of safely carrying a family anywhere in the world. This is not just a comfortable boat—it’s a sailor’s boat, built by sailors for sailors. Agile in light winds, steady and reassuring when the breeze picks up, the 45 is as capable of crossing oceans as it is of turning a coastal cruise into a memorable adventure.
Built in 2003 and launched in 2004, this example has been under the care of the same owner since 2007 (ex Kadavu). In all that time, she’s been sailed with purpose and pleasure, never pushed beyond what was needed, and always maintained with care. During the second ownership she was only sailed 2-3 months each year and then stored on the hard. That approach means her rig, sails, and systems are all in sound condition, ready for her next chapter. Equiped with a coppercoat, the next owners will enjoy some time without having to add new antifouling regularly. She carries the legacy of Danson’s design in every line—slim hulls for performance, balanced sail plan for ease of handling, and just the right amount of comfort to make life aboard both safe and enjoyable.
Her equipment is geared towards practical, independent cruising. On deck, a full cockpit enclosure and shade curtains turn the cockpit into a sheltered living space in any weather, while a dedicated canopy over the trampolines provides a shady retreat when at anchor. A hard kayak sits securely on deck, ready to explore remote coves or paddle ashore. Her sail wardrobe, including a well-cut mainsail and headsails in good condition, offers flexibility across wind ranges. Winches, deck gear, and running rigging are all chosen to be robust and efficient, keeping sail handling smooth and safe.
Navigation and onboard systems are equally well thought out. Electronics are arranged for clear visibility and easy access from the helm, while safety equipment is in place for offshore passages. The saloon is equipped for real cooking at sea, with reliable refrigeration, ample work surfaces, and good storage. It is bright and well-ventilated, making it as pleasant at anchor in the tropics as it is on passage.
The Outremer 45 remains one of the most respected designs in bluewater sailing for good reason—light, responsive, and sea-kindly, yet tough enough to carry a family safely across oceans. This particular catamaran stands as a fine example of that vision: a pure sailor’s boat, ready to go and ideal for anyone seeking both performance and security on the water.
Now lying close to the Outremer shipyard, she is offered for sale directly through the yard. That means her next crew will benefit from the unmatched technical insight, safety focus, and support that only the original builder can provide—making her not just a boat purchase, but the start of a voyage backed by the very people who brought her to life.

I cannot speak too highly of Andrew Hodgdon and his colleagues at the Multihull Company.
The process of selling my boat was very smooth and well managed and with excellent communication – especially important as I was unable to be nearby during the sale process. Andrew’s deep knowledge of the market and my boat was very reassuring. We spoke regularly and he kept me closely advised all the way through to a happy sale. I found him a good guy, very helpful, willing to share and bounce ideas around, and I enjoyed working with him. Highly recommended!
Andrew Hodgdon and The Multihull Company are really professional! I just closed a deal with them, and everything was pretty smooth. Andrew was punctual, showed a lot of expertise, and he was honest about all the problems with the boat. He is also giving me the support I need to run all the projects on this boat. This whole process was much better than I was expecting, and I recommend this team! Thank you, Andrew.
The multihull company, specifically Andrew Hodgson worked with me in the sale of Gods Grace, a 50’ Voyage 500. They made sure that as many people as possible touched it, laid hands on it, ultimately resulting in a offer and sale and was extremely helpful in the prep and sale process as I did not live locally… If you want to make sure that people actually see your vessel, will be honest and truly assist you in the sale, Andrew is the man for the job.
Andrew Hodgdon always goes above and beyond. After several transactions I wouldn’t work with anyone else in the industry.
Andrew at the Multihull Company was our buyer’s broker and he was excellent to work with. He thoroughly explained the purchase process, and helped with many questions along the way. We would definitely use Andrew and Multihull again to buy and sell catamarans and yachts.
