About
This Orana 44 named "RED" is ready to go cruising!
The Fountain Pajot Orana 44:
RED is a 44’ catamaran with 4 spacious staterooms, each with ensuite lavatories housing dedicated showers. She is a wonderful sailing vessel drawing only 3’ 7” of water, making her both a fast and stable catamaran. Her polar diagram displays her heritage from Fountaine-Pajot with really impressive numbers. She acquires more than satisfactory speed while running at 10 knots, beam-reaching to broad-reaching at 10-12 knots and finally close-hauled to close-reach is an impressive at 6-8-9 knots (40-50-60 deg respectively). These speeds are in 20 knots of wind. On the water her performance reveals these speeds with winds down to 15-18 knots as well depending upon sea states and loading. She is light, fast and very manageable with her helm position giving great visibility and access to all lines. All four corners of the boat can be seen from the helm position, allowing for easy maneuvering and docking. Under Power she achieves close to hull speed of 8.8 Knots at 3000 rpm and at 2800 rpm achieves 8 knots.

2020 Renovation
2020 Renovation
This yacht’s 2020 renovation by the shipyard’s chief mechanic/builder made several major improvements which separated this catamaran from the average yacht in its class. The original owner (2 back) was a Frenchman who sailed her annually for 6 weeks while visiting the Caribbean waters, as he lived in Europe. She was never placed in charter. When not in the water for the owners annual pilgrimage, she was otherwise dry-docked. The shipyard owner from 2019-2020 refurbished the yacht to a higher standard than the production catamaran level. All new Raymarine® electronics package, new VHF radio, new JVC® Bluetooth® stereo, wiring and speakers, new L.E.D. lighting in cabins, all new exterior closed-cell foam and Sunbrella® fabric, all new cushions and synthetic leather in the Salon furniture, all new toilets, hoses, clamps, valves and through-hulls, new Corian® countertops, new Mastervolt® batteries, new Victron Energy® charger, new anchor and galvanized chain, new bilge pumps, and new lazy jack.
To note: While dry-docked in 2018 on 6″ high blocks, the yacht drifted off the starboard blocks resulting in the keel dislodging from its groove in the hull. The shipyard chief mechanic and owner would professionally repair and replace the starboard keel and rudder making them better than new. The entire exterior hull below the waterline has been sanded down to the resin, inspected, cleaned and refurbished with 10 gallons of marine resin, then primer and 10 gallons of bottom paint making the hull completely refurbished, improved and in a stronger state than new. Additionally, the entire hull inside and under the floors has been refurbished, not only to factory new look and appeal, but also increased beyond the original strength. The 3/8” European plywood ribs, encased in 4” of fiberglass have all been removed and replaced with 1 1/4” marine composite foam encased in 6” of fiberglass, which resulted in both a lighter and stronger structural buildout. This upgrade combined with the exterior refurbishing of the hull has ensured this yacht will be sailing “like new” for decades. Using all 3M® products to clean, wax, seal and polish this hull has improved and restored to an absolutely sparkling condition. All flooring has been removed and replaced with Lamitec® flooring, stained and finished.
The inside of the bilges in both hulls have been thoroughly cleaned, waxed, sealed and polished. All bilge pumps have been replaced and upgraded from 500gph to 900gph. The engine bays have been thoroughly cleaned, waxed, sealed and polished with bilge pumps replaced and upgraded from 500gph to 1100gph.

The immaculate care and constant upgrades have upkeep this yacht in excellent condition. RED is ready for a couple or family to jump in, get on and get going.
Starboard Forward Cabin:
The current owners maintained the starboard hull as an owners hull with workshop in the forward cabin and each taking their own head and shower. All bed frames and mattresses are stored onboard to convert the starboard forward shop back into a 4th cabin if desired. In less than 1 hour you can convert her back to the original cabin from the now dedicated shop.
The current owners have recorded in detail all upgrades, location of all wires and plumbing, location of valves and through-hulls and miscellaneous instructions for optimum performance.
Manufacturer Provided Description
ORANA 44 is intended to be a comfortable ocean-going vessel.
Designed by the famous Joubert-Nivelt firm of architects, the ORANA 44 offers:
Free on-deck movement, like her sisters.
A very low center of gravity for maximum security, with opened access between the cockpit and saloon.
A large sliding window for direct communication between the saloon and cockpit.
A three-seat steering station combining all navigation controls, with excellent visibility over the roof.
A sheltered sundeck behind the steering station, which includes two portable sunloungers with adjustable backs. Most importantly, great performances with 1200 ft² of sail, which in normal weather would allow extensive sailing under the wind, limiting use of motors.
This version of the ORANA 44 is a 4-cabin: in the passageways are four bright, attractive cabins, each with attached lavatory and separate shower room.

Your team delivered on every mark. You’ve got an amazing broker in Mark Wattrus and I’m confident you will have continued success moving forward together. He was available 24/7 whenever I had questions. We had a great initial visit on the boat and his marketing plan and photos were superb
I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.
Thank you Andrew for putting up with all my questions, all my worries and all my crazy out of the time zone concerns – you were totally professional, but also I know that if and when we meet up, it will be like a friend finally meeting. You are always welcome on Aseka.
Outstanding company with professional subject matter experts. If I were to buy or sell cruising sailboat, particularly a catamaran, Andrew would be my go to broker.
I have been sailing since I was a child and attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy. But when my wife and I began the process of purchasing an ocean cruising/racing catamaran, I realized that this is a world unto itself. Obviously, we needed to find someone knowledgeable to help us make an informed decision. More importantly, we needed someone honest and willing to put our interests before his or her own. I was lucky to work with Phil Berman at The Multihull Company. He repeatedly shunned the fast buck, choosing instead to work the long road to connect us with the “perfect boat”. I would be glad to recommend Phil and his company to anyone planning to purchase or sell a performance sailing machine.
Andrew Hodgdon was our broker when we bought our 2018 Lagoon 450F in Antigua in April 2922. He provided great service and was very attentive to our needs. We would highly recommend Andrew and the Multihull Company.
Successful relationships cannot exist without it. At The Multihull Company we base every relationship on a firm commitment to earning and retaining our client’s trust.
Advice of any kind is valuable only when grounded in hard-won expertise. It too, must be trustworthy. Trust and expertise define the heart and soul of The Multihull Company. We are a team of skilled professionals who thrive on providing expert, trustworthy advice and service to catamaran and trimaran sailors around the globe.
