About

KALY JAI – Professionally Built Schionning 1190 Offshore Cruising Catamaran

Professionally yard-built in Australia and extensively refreshed in 2023–2024, KALY JAI is a fast, lightweight and exceptionally capable offshore cruising catamaran designed for serious passagemaking and comfortable liveaboard cruising.

Built using premium Durakore strip plank construction with WEST epoxy and reinforced in high-load areas with carbon fibre, she combines genuine performance sailing with practical long-range cruising capability.

Unlike many cruising cats in this size range, KALY JAI features lifting daggerboards, kick-up rudders and fully retractable outboards, allowing access to shallow anchorages and remote cruising grounds inaccessible to most yachts.

With major recent investment including:

  • New Ronstan standing rigging (2024)
  • New Dyneema running rigging (2024)
  • Full outboard leg-off service (2023)
  • New solar system components
  • New composite through-hulls
  • New cockpit and saloon covers
  • Watermaker and extensive cruising inventory

she presents as a highly sorted and genuinely ready-to-cruise vessel.

Lightly used from new and supported by comprehensive build documentation, original completion survey and pre-purchase survey history, KALY JAI represents a rare opportunity to acquire a professionally built Schionning without the cost, delay or risk of a new build project.

Bridgedeck

The interior of this cat is beautifully finished with a comfy set out.  The galley down design frees a lot of space in the saloon, a neat navigation station, computer table, VHF radio etc, is to starboard and the L-shaped settee and solid wood table completes the space.  The two forward facing saloon windows open for excellent ventilation. The large double aft doors and both large aft windows all open making it a lovely place to be even when its warm outside.  A domestic air-conditioning unit (0.5 hp) really cools the boat down when alongside.

Port hull

Equipment space, with gas powered hot water heater and vessel systems in dedicated area access via head, Large Head and shower aft, galley midships with Gas hob and large fridge and sink with huge amounts of storage and a large double cabin forward.  (She is a stretched Cosmos so the cabin is significantly larger than normal)

Starboard hull

Double cabin aft and double cabin forward.  Walk through with huge amount of storage and a fold down chart table and chart storage.

Engines

Two 20hp HONDA four stroke outboards in pods.  Can be lifted entirely out of the water to reduce drag and allow her to get into the shallowest of places on your adventures. Leg off service done and new carbs for both (not yet fitted new in box Easter 2024.)

Mast & Rigging

The vessel is fractionally rigged with a standard catamaran rig of double spreader rig stainless 10mm caps, 8mm lowers and stainless steel turnbuckles, Sta-Loks on lower terminals. The rig is heavy duty from AllYacht Spars as befits a long distance cruising cat.  All standing rigging is new Ronstan with new style adjusters and the mast was dropped and professionally inspected, all running rigging is new Dyneema with messengers run where possible, so many of the lines are brand new (2024) yet to be fitted.  Sloop rigged with a furling genoa (ProFurl), the asymmetric spinnaker is flown from the bow sprit (painted and stored internally 2024) on a furler. All sails were professionally cleaned and serviced when she was laid up and so are internally stored in excellent condition.

We take pride in our happy customers

I recently sold my Lagoon 450 with the Multihull Team. I would highly recommend their services. The professionalism and personal treatment I received was greatly appreciated.

Great Service, Great People
Helped me through the process.
I would go through them again in a future purchase.

The Multihull Company made the process of buying our boat easy and predictable. Both our agent (Francisco Montaner) and Andrew Holland communicated well and educated/informed us of each step in the process. I highly recommend The Multihull Company for those shopping for a catamaran!

— Jeffrey Bredeson

Chuck at The Multihull Company is the real deal.
He helped us find our Lagoon 40 after genuinely listening to what we needed, not just what he had to sell. He let us visit the boat multiple times, answered every question honestly, and helped us make a confident decision on a major purchase.
What impressed us most was the post-sale support. Once the paperwork was signed, Chuck was still picking up the phone, offering referrals, and helping us work through the early stages of liveaboard life. That kind of follow-through is rare.
If you are looking for a multihull and want someone who knows the boats and actually cares about the outcome, Chuck is the person to call.

— Richard Chandler

We just purchased a 2025 Nautitech 44 Open with The Multihull Company. The process of getting here has been great, and we could not have asked for a better agent. We worked with Conor, whom we met at the 2025 Cannes Boat Show. We started our search for a cruising catamaran in Florida at the beginning of the year. We spent a couple of months looking at different boats/models within our price range and quickly narrowed it down to what really mattered to us, in part thanks to the wealth of knowledge and expertise our broker provided. When we found a perfect match in Montenegro, Conor and The Multihull Company did not hesitate to continue supporting us and to lead the efforts from start to finish with great care and transparency. Communication and support have been outstanding throughout this entire process. Conor, in particular, showed great compassion and care, going above and beyond to ensure that no stone was left unturned and that we would be able to safely and happily sail off into our big adventure.
