About

2023 St. Francis 50 MKII "Skimmer"

4 Cabins | 4 Heads | Single-Owner
The Ultimate Turn-Key, Off-Grid Blue-Water Voyager

Commissioned in South Africa in 2023, Skimmer is an exceptionally proven offshore catamaran designed and optimized for short-handed voyaging. Personally accepted at the factory by her experienced owner, she completed coastal shake-downs to Saldanha before embarking on a true blue-water transatlantic crossing. Sailed by just the owner and his wife, and frequently single-handed by the owner on multi-day offshore passages, she made the ocean crossing to Grenada via the remote outposts of St. Helena and Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. Since making US landfall in Florida in May 2024, she has actively cruised the East Coast up to Maine, flawlessly transiting between the pristine shallow waters of the Bahamas and the rugged coast of New England. Kept to professional standards and thoroughly debugged, she stands completely ready to circumnavigate tomorrow.

Her build includes key structural upgrades engineered for offshore rigidity and quietness. A custom solid-fiberglass transom deck replaces the standard factory build, stiffening the hull. This is supported by carbon fiber reinforcements at the saloon entryway, and glassed-in bulkheads behind both engine rooms.

Her engineering is focused on absolute self-sufficiency, centered on a 24V power grid with a 1,400 Ah MG Lithium bank, a 12 kW Fischer Panda DC generator, and a 2,140W solar array managed by triple Victron inverter/chargers. For short-handed sailing, she features a Sparcraft mast with climbing steps, in-boom reefing jammers, and a heavy-duty symmetrical "chicken chute" spinnaker. Offshore cruising comforts are complete with a Spectra Newport DC watermaker, a custom port-bow workshop with a workbench and vise, and a premium Stidd helm seat with a base-integrated Isotherm ice maker.

Skimmer is a rare offering in the blue-water cruising market: a fully customized, meticulously optimized catamaran. Maintained to immaculate standards, she represents the pinnacle of safety, self-sufficiency, and luxury. For the serious sailor ready to set sail immediately, Skimmer stands 100% ready for her next global chapter.

CUSTOM STRUCTURAL UPGRADES & OWNER MODIFICATIONS

  • Custom Solid Fiberglass Transom Deck: Installed in lieu of the standard wood or thin plastic used on factory models. This upgrade dramatically stiffens the hull and significantly reduces wave-slap noise at the transom.

  • Aftermarket Hull Strengthening: Added structural rigidity consisting of heavy bulkheads glassed directly behind each engine room.

  • Carbon Fiber Saloon Entryway Reinforcement: High-strength carbon fiber beam and support post added at both the floor and ceiling (roof) of the saloon entryway to maximize hull stiffness.

  • In-Boom Reefing Jammers: Jammers installed directly in the boom for the clew reefing lines, isolating high reefing loads at the boom rather than transferring them back to the deck organizers.

  • Mast Climbing Steps: Steps installed along the mast to allow easy, safe access to the mainsail battcar system and sail cover.

  • Masthead Safety Access: Additional step and handhold installed at the very top of the mast for comfortable masthead work.

We take pride in our happy customers

I recently sold my Lagoon 450 with the Multihull Team. I would highly recommend their services. The professionalism and personal treatment I received was greatly appreciated.

— Derek Schroeder

Great Service, Great People
Helped me through the process.
I would go through them again in a future purchase.

— David Anderson

The Multihull Company made the process of buying our boat easy and predictable. Both our agent (Francisco Montaner) and Andrew Holland communicated well and educated/informed us of each step in the process. I highly recommend The Multihull Company for those shopping for a catamaran!

— Jeffrey Bredeson

Chuck at The Multihull Company is the real deal.
He helped us find our Lagoon 40 after genuinely listening to what we needed, not just what he had to sell. He let us visit the boat multiple times, answered every question honestly, and helped us make a confident decision on a major purchase.
What impressed us most was the post-sale support. Once the paperwork was signed, Chuck was still picking up the phone, offering referrals, and helping us work through the early stages of liveaboard life. That kind of follow-through is rare.
If you are looking for a multihull and want someone who knows the boats and actually cares about the outcome, Chuck is the person to call.

— Richard Chandler

We just purchased a 2025 Nautitech 44 Open with The Multihull Company. The process of getting here has been great, and we could not have asked for a better agent. We worked with Conor, whom we met at the 2025 Cannes Boat Show. We started our search for a cruising catamaran in Florida at the beginning of the year. We spent a couple of months looking at different boats/models within our price range and quickly narrowed it down to what really mattered to us, in part thanks to the wealth of knowledge and expertise our broker provided. When we found a perfect match in Montenegro, Conor and The Multihull Company did not hesitate to continue supporting us and to lead the efforts from start to finish with great care and transparency. Communication and support have been outstanding throughout this entire process. Conor, in particular, showed great compassion and care, going above and beyond to ensure that no stone was left unturned and that we would be able to safely and happily sail off into our big adventure.
