About

This Kelsall 46 is a fine example of this popular catamaran designed by the famed multihull designer Derek Kelsall. Derek has been influential in the world of modern catamaran design concepts and did an excellent job when building this particular model . She makes for a perfect, stable & comfortable family cruiser or to operate as a charter boat in Indonesia where there's a shortage of quality catamarans available.

She can accommodate 8 guests in four cabins and the saloon is spacious with a large U-Shaped dining area that opens directly to the cockpit.

She underwent a refit in 2022 - 23 with her interior remodelled and repainted, all new upholstery, new electronics including new Radar, GPS, Plotter, 2 x new 60hp ISUZU engines were installed giving her a smoother ride and more power. The cockpit has a new teak laid deck and a stainless steel framed bimini offering full shade over that area. There's solar panels and a sturdy davit system for her tender and 25hp Yamaha outboard

In August 2023 she was antifouled and shafts replaced, this Kelsall 46 is available now and ready for your inspection.

General Description
Key Features of the Kelsall 46 Catamaran:

  • Design Philosophy: The Kelsall 46 reflects Kelsall’s focus on creating lightweight, strong, and seaworthy vessels. Derek Kelsalls use of foam sandwich construction reduces weight without compromising strength.

  • Size and Layout: The Kelsall 46 is a 46-foot (about 14 meters) catamaran, offering ample space for cruising. The layout typically includes multiple cabins, a spacious saloon, and a well-designed galley, making it suitable for long voyages.

  • Performance: Known for good sailing performance, the Kelsall 46 is designed to be fast and responsive. The hull design allows for efficient passage through the water, providing stability and speed.

  • Construction: The Kelsall 46 is  built using the KSS (Kelsall Swiftsure Sandwich) method, a technique developed by Derek Kelsall that involves vacuum bagging the foam sandwich panels to create a light yet strong structure.

  • Usage: The Kelsall 46 is popular among bluewater cruisers, liveaboards, and those who enjoy extended voyages. Its design balances comfort with performance, making it suitable for a variety of sailing conditions.

We take pride in our happy customers

I cannot speak too highly of Andrew Hodgdon and his colleagues at the Multihull Company.

The process of selling my boat was very smooth and well managed and with excellent communication – especially important as I was unable to be nearby during the sale process. Andrew’s deep knowledge of the market and my boat was very reassuring. We spoke regularly and he kept me closely advised all the way through to a happy sale. I found him a good guy, very helpful, willing to share and bounce ideas around, and I enjoyed working with him. Highly recommended!

Andrew Hodgdon and The Multihull Company are really professional! I just closed a deal with them, and everything was pretty smooth. Andrew was punctual, showed a lot of expertise, and he was honest about all the problems with the boat. He is also giving me the support I need to run all the projects on this boat. This whole process was much better than I was expecting, and I recommend this team! Thank you, Andrew.

— Gustavo Machado

The multihull company, specifically Andrew Hodgson worked with me in the sale of Gods Grace, a 50’ Voyage 500. They made sure that as many people as possible touched it, laid hands on it, ultimately resulting in a offer and sale and was extremely helpful in the prep and sale process as I did not live locally… If you want to make sure that people actually see your vessel, will be honest and truly assist you in the sale, Andrew is the man for the job.

— Neal Monacelli

Andrew Hodgdon always goes above and beyond. After several transactions I wouldn’t work with anyone else in the industry.

— David Pignolet

Andrew at the Multihull Company was our buyer’s broker and he was excellent to work with. He thoroughly explained the purchase process, and helped with many questions along the way. We would definitely use Andrew and Multihull again to buy and sell catamarans and yachts.
