About
Fountaine Pajot Casamance 44 | 1992 | A classic cruising catamaran
CLAIR LA LUNE is a classic Fountaine Pajot Casamance 44, designed by Joubert/Nivelt and built in 1992. She comes from an earlier generation of cruising catamarans: relatively slim hulls, moderate displacement, generous sail area, solid construction and straightforward systems – designed as a true blue-water sailboat, while still providing the space and comfort that make a catamaran such an attractive cruising home.
Currently cruising French Polynesia with her owners, a Swiss family, CLAIR LA LUNE has been carefully maintained and upgraded with considerable work and investment in 2026. She is being sold as her owners approach the end of their voyage – a well-equipped cruising boat, ready to continue sailing with her next owners.
Layout & Life Aboard
CLAIR LA LUNE has a warm and welcoming interior with considerably more character than many modern production catamarans. Woodwork, inlaid tables and refreshed interior areas create a comfortable living space with lots of charm.
The current layout offers:
The fourth original double cabin serves as a dedicated workshop, technical and storage space, providing useful room for tools, spares and cruising equipment while keeping the main accommodation uncluttered.
The layout works equally well for a couple wanting generous space, for cruising with guests, or for a family living aboard for an extended voyage.
The well-equipped galley is set up for comfortable long-term living aboard, with a comprehensive range of practical appliances, including two fridges and a separate freezer.
Sailing Setup & Deck
The Casamance 44 retains the excellent sailing qualities for which this generation of catamarans is appreciated. CLAIR LA LUNE carries a 50 m² mainsail, 38 m² Hydranet furling genoa, asymmetric spinnaker with sock, and a storm jib, providing a versatile sail plan for passagemaking and trade-wind sailing. She also delivers particularly strong upwind performance for a cruising catamaran of her size.
The standing rigging was renewed progressively between 2019 and 2022. Antifouling was renewed in May 2026.
Deck equipment includes a rigid cockpit bimini, stainless-steel davits, strong ground tackle and a practical deck layout for short-handed cruising.
Energy & Autonomy
CLAIR LA LUNE is well set up for extended periods away from marinas and shore infrastructure. It comes equipped with:
Together, these systems provide a high degree of energy, water and communication independence for extended cruising and comfortable life aboard.
Navigation, Communications & Safety
The navigation and communication equipment has been substantially modernised and is set up for offshore cruising.
Tender & Leisure Gear
A substantial range of equipment for enjoying life at anchor and exploring ashore is already aboard:
Ready for the Next Chapter
CLAIR LA LUNE combines classic sailing character and solid blue-water capability with comfortable living space and the modern equipment needed for extended cruising.
In this price bracket, few catamarans offer such a compelling balance of sailing pedigree, charm and practical cruising readiness.
She is currently cruising French Polynesia and is being sold as her owners complete their family sabbatical – ready for her next chapter in the South Pacific or further afield.

I recently sold my Lagoon 450 with the Multihull Team. I would highly recommend their services. The professionalism and personal treatment I received was greatly appreciated.
Great Service, Great People
Helped me through the process.
I would go through them again in a future purchase.
The Multihull Company made the process of buying our boat easy and predictable. Both our agent (Francisco Montaner) and Andrew Holland communicated well and educated/informed us of each step in the process. I highly recommend The Multihull Company for those shopping for a catamaran!
Chuck at The Multihull Company is the real deal.
He helped us find our Lagoon 40 after genuinely listening to what we needed, not just what he had to sell. He let us visit the boat multiple times, answered every question honestly, and helped us make a confident decision on a major purchase.
What impressed us most was the post-sale support. Once the paperwork was signed, Chuck was still picking up the phone, offering referrals, and helping us work through the early stages of liveaboard life. That kind of follow-through is rare.
If you are looking for a multihull and want someone who knows the boats and actually cares about the outcome, Chuck is the person to call.
We just purchased a 2025 Nautitech 44 Open with The Multihull Company. The process of getting here has been great, and we could not have asked for a better agent. We worked with Conor, whom we met at the 2025 Cannes Boat Show. We started our search for a cruising catamaran in Florida at the beginning of the year. We spent a couple of months looking at different boats/models within our price range and quickly narrowed it down to what really mattered to us, in part thanks to the wealth of knowledge and expertise our broker provided. When we found a perfect match in Montenegro, Conor and The Multihull Company did not hesitate to continue supporting us and to lead the efforts from start to finish with great care and transparency. Communication and support have been outstanding throughout this entire process. Conor, in particular, showed great compassion and care, going above and beyond to ensure that no stone was left unturned and that we would be able to safely and happily sail off into our big adventure.
Successful relationships cannot exist without it. At The Multihull Company we base every relationship on a firm commitment to earning and retaining our client’s trust.
