RONIN | 2016 Celtic Yachts 40

Savannah, GA, US

About

The Celtic 40, previously known as the Admiral 40, is a robust Bluewater catamaran engineered to endure challenging open ocean conditions. Beyond its offshore capabilities, Celtic Yachts are designed to be easily managed by a small crew while providing excellent sailing performance and a comfortable living environment. Notable enhancements to the Celtic 40 include a redesigned helm station that facilitates ease of short-handed sailing, a new davit platform, a molded bimini ceiling, redesigned heads, more generously sized forward and aft cabins, increased locker space, extended salon seating, and a wider sliding door opening.

Constructed in South Africa, RONIN was sailed directly from the manufacturing facility to the United States by Tim Duncan, the owner and designer of Celtic Yachts. Her second owners acquired her new at a boat show and subsequently enjoyed several years of cruising on the Chesapeake Bay. Upon acquisition by her current owner, RONIN was equipped for Bluewater sailing, and she subsequently spent two years cruising the Caribbean. If you are considering Leopard catamarans, we encourage you to also consider RONIN. She offers comparable build quality and presents an exceptional value.

Accommodations

SALON

Upon entry, the galley is located to port, complemented by a dinette to starboard. The large side and front windows provides an abundance of natural light as well as a comprehensive view of your surroundings. Additionally, carefully positioned opening hatches and ports allow for effective ventilation and airflow throughout the boat.

A prominent feature of the Celtic 40 is all of the fantastic storage capacity, which is especially important for provisioning for long trips onboard. The redesigned and enlarged sliding door to the cockpit smoothly integrates the interior and exterior areas, maintaining proximity to guests and allowing for continuous appreciation of the anchorage views from within.

The salon has a large U-shaped dinette with beige marine leather upholstery, which offers the advantage of easier maintenance compared to fabric and provides a cool environment when the air conditioning is in use. The front opening cabinets are designed with wooden door fronts in a basket weave pattern, facilitating air circulation and preventing mildew.

Additional features include:

  • Samsung 32″ TV
  • Impressive 6’8″ headroom
  • LED lighting
  • Marine Air 16,000 BTU AC with Soft Start ducted to the salon and main cabin (2017)
  • Mesh sun screens for the large side windows
  • New gaskets for the front two port lights (2022)

GALLEY

The well-appointed galley offers exceptional functionality and features the same ample and easily accessible storage solutions present throughout the salon. Its placement within view of the helm facilitates enhanced communication and provides a clear visual connection between the captain at the helm and whomever is inside.

Additional features include:

  • Isotherm Marine front loading 130L refrigerator and a separate Isotherm Marine front loading 90L deep freezer, which is fantastic for provisioning during extended voyages. These operate on either 12V power or via the engine
  • Double stainless steel sink that features a separate low flow water faucet to conserve water reserves
  • 3-burner stove and oven with a rotisserie
  • For safety, a propane gas detector and shutoff system are installed
  • The burner cover conveniently provides additional countertop space when the stove is not in use
  • The countertops are finished with Corian

HULL LAYOUT

The port and starboard hulls each offer a layout comprising two cabins and one head, resulting in a total of four cabins and two heads. The large salon windows ensures ample natural light and ventilation throughout the hulls.

The two aft cabins are equipped with substantial athwartship berths, measuring approximately 7’2″ by 6’6″, which is comparable to a king-size bed. The two forward cabins feature double beds, sized at 6’3″ by 4’7″, offering versatility for various configurations. This adaptability allows for potential use as additional storage space or even a compact workshop if not needed for sleeping accommodations.

Each cabin provides generous storage for personal items and clothing. The front-opening cabinets are designed with wooden door fronts in a basket weave pattern, promoting air circulation and inhibiting mildew growth. Air conditioning is ducted into the starboard aft cabin. Furthermore, newly installed fans are present in the remaining cabins to enhance ventilation. The port aft cabin includes a radio separate from the vessel’s primary audio system.

Both heads are fitted with a separate shower, a sink basin with storage underneath, and a full-length mirrored locker. Both heads are electric flush, with the starboard head having been newly installed in 2022. Β

Cockpit / Deck

The remarkable amount of indoor and outdoor space afforded by a catamaran presents a significant advantage over a monohull. Beyond the expansive cockpit, the foredeck, featuring large trampolines and integrated seating, creates an ideal setting for enjoying evening sunsets. The wide and open side decks facilitate an unobstructed passage from the bow to the stern, even while the vessel is underway. The redesigned davit platform makes boarding the dinghy easy and enhances the flow of movement within the cockpit. This configuration is particularly well-suited for accommodating large groups or those traveling with pets. The starboard helm offers excellent forward visibility and a clear view of all corners of the vessel during docking maneuvers.

We take pride in our happy customers

Chuck at The Multihull Company is the real deal.
He helped us find our Lagoon 40 after genuinely listening to what we needed, not just what he had to sell. He let us visit the boat multiple times, answered every question honestly, and helped us make a confident decision on a major purchase.
What impressed us most was the post-sale support. Once the paperwork was signed, Chuck was still picking up the phone, offering referrals, and helping us work through the early stages of liveaboard life. That kind of follow-through is rare.
If you are looking for a multihull and want someone who knows the boats and actually cares about the outcome, Chuck is the person to call.

We just purchased a 2025 Nautitech 44 Open with The Multihull Company. The process of getting here has been great, and we could not have asked for a better agent. We worked with Conor, whom we met at the 2025 Cannes Boat Show. We started our search for a cruising catamaran in Florida at the beginning of the year. We spent a couple of months looking at different boats/models within our price range and quickly narrowed it down to what really mattered to us, in part thanks to the wealth of knowledge and expertise our broker provided. When we found a perfect match in Montenegro, Conor and The Multihull Company did not hesitate to continue supporting us and to lead the efforts from start to finish with great care and transparency. Communication and support have been outstanding throughout this entire process. Conor, in particular, showed great compassion and care, going above and beyond to ensure that no stone was left unturned and that we would be able to safely and happily sail off into our big adventure.

A sale well handled. No inflated expectations and an honest opinion throughout. Highly recommended.

Absolutely THE ONLY company to use for buying or selling a catamaran! Our Broker Andrew Hodgdon, was excellent to work with, an experienced catamaran captain with extensive knowledge of sailing catamarans, the ins and outs of the construction, performance, systems, everything involved and life on board catamarans. All of which is invaluable in looking for the right boat for someone to buy or helping market your boat when selling. The Multihull Company is so connected in the catamaran world and used by so many catamaran sailors and searchers that we had an interested buyer before our boat was even listed and a completed sale 60 days after her first showing!!! Thanks Andrew and all of the Multihull team who worked diligently to make it happen so smoothly!

β€” Linda W.

We had a great experience working with Andrew! He was extremely knowledgeable and listened to our needs of what we wanted our next boat to be. He responded quickly to all of our requests and got us to the finish line. Working with Multihull was seamless and we highly recommend using Andrew and Multihull.
