About

Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36 Evolution — Proven, Well-Equipped Cruising Catamaran

A compact, performance-minded cruising catamaran with genuine offshore experience, this Mahe 36 Evolution has been sailed and equipped for real use rather than occasional weekends. Commissioned in France and sailed to New England on her own bottom, she has been Rhode Island–based since new and has seen extensive seasonal cruising between New England, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands.

Designed by Joubert/Nivelt, the Mahe 36 is known for efficient hulls, rewarding sailing performance, and a manageable size. Narrow waterline beams deliver good speed and upwind ability, while flared topsides add volume and buoyancy for comfortable living aboard. With a shallow 3.5-foot draft, 58-foot air draft, and widely spaced twin engines, she is particularly well suited to the ICW, Bahamas, and island cruising, while remaining capable offshore.

The desirable three-cabin, one-head layout features a dedicated owner’s hull with a queen berth and excellent storage, plus two guest cabins to port. The bright, open salon flows directly into the cockpit through large sliding doors. A hardtop with full enclosure extends comfort across seasons, and the galley is well arranged for extended cruising.

Notable Features & Upgrades:

  • Updated navigation electronics
  • Newer headsail
  • Standing rigging under five years old
  • Solar with a 300 amp-hour lithium battery bank
  • Updated ground tackle and windlass
  • 2019 Twin 30-hp Volvo diesel engines

The Mahe 36 Evolution occupies a unique place in the market: a performance-oriented cruising catamaran with offshore experience, sensible upgrades, and a layout that works equally well for couples or small families. Offered at an attractive price point, she represents a compelling opportunity in a proven design.
