Le Catana 40S conçu par le célèbre architecte Lock Crowther est un catamaran de croisière rapide reconnu pour sa légèreté, ses performances et sa fiabilité en navigation hauturière. Avec seulement 4,2 tonnes de déplacement, ce modèle fait partie des catamarans performants capables d’offrir d’excellentes vitesses sous voiles tout en conservant un confort de croisière appréciable.
Cette unité de 1992 a fait l’objet d’une refonte importante entre 2022 et 2024. Les travaux réalisés en 2023 sont particulièrement conséquents avec des renforcements structurels sur le pied de mât, les supports de bossoirs et les jonctions coque / nacelle. Le gréement inox a également été remplacé, tandis que le mât et la bôme ont été entièrement reconditionnés.
Le système énergétique a été entièrement modernisé avec une installation solaire de 1 520 W composée de quatre panneaux et un parc de batteries lithium de 850 Ah installé en 2023. L’ensemble est géré par un système Victron complet comprenant contrôleurs MPPT et convertisseurs 375 W et 3000 W. Ce système assure une autonomie énergétique importante pour la vie à bord.
La production d’eau est assurée par un dessalinisateur Seawater Pro de 70 litres par heure installé en 2024, complété par un système de récupération d’eau de pluie via le hardtop. L’ensemble permet de vivre en totale autonomie durant les longues navigations.
L’aménagement intérieur comprend trois cabines, dont deux cabines doubles et une cabine simple. Le carré a été redessiné afin d’offrir une table modulable pouvant se transformer en grand couchage. Un espace atelier et stockage a également été intégré, pratique pour les navigations longues.
La cuisine est équipée d’un réfrigérateur congélateur 12 V, d’une cuisinière gaz trois feux, d’une plaque à induction installée en 2021 et d’une machine à laver de 7 kg. Les matelas, coussins du carré et du cockpit ont été remplacés en 2023.
À l’extérieur, le cockpit a été entièrement optimisé avec une nouvelle table, un hardtop Airex sur mesure et une plateforme arrière allongée intégrant une station de préparation pour la pêche. Les bossoirs aluminium permettent de stocker une annexe Airex de 2,8 mètres équipée d’un moteur Suzuki 9,8 CV.
Basé à Papeete en Polynésie française et taxes payées, ce Catana 40S constitue une excellente plateforme pour un programme de grande croisière ou de tour du monde.
