Nauti Habit

2023 Bali 4.2  •  42 ft Sailing Catamaran  •  Costa Rica

Asking $699,999  •  US Imported & Duty Paid

The Bali 4.2 has earned its place as one of the most talked-about cruising catamarans of the modern era, and for good reason. Designed by the Catana Group, the 4.2 breaks the mold of the conventional catamaran with its signature full-width "garage door" -- a glass panel that lifts flush into the saloon ceiling to merge the interior and aft cockpit into one seamless, light-filled living space. Add a dedicated forward cockpit with its own bow door, a 23-foot beam that delivers stability and deck space and a layout that genuinely lives like a floating apartment and you begin to understand why the Bali 4.2 draws buyers away from larger, more expensive alternatives. With a 4-foot draft and 42 feet of overall length, she is equally at home threading into shallow anchorages and crossing open water.

Nauti Habit is not a standard example. The current owners took delivery of this 2023 model and immediately set about equipping her for serious offshore cruising, upgrading the stock 30 HP engines to twin Nanni 4.5 50 HP diesels with folding propellers, adding Starlink Maritime In Motion for always-on connectivity, commissioning a full Raymarine Axiom electronics suite with FLIR thermal camera, and installing reverse-cycle air conditioning throughout. The power system was built around a Cummins 9 KW generator with sound shield and a Victron Cerbo GX battery monitor, and a 12V watermaker adds genuine independence at anchor. Fresh bottom paint, buffed and waxed hulls, and regular upkeep round out a vessel that is ready to sail away and go anywhere -- no first-year investment required.

Listing Highlights

  • Layout: Owner's Version -- 3 cabins, 3 heads; master suite in port hull, two guest cabins to starboard
  • Propulsion: Twin Nanni 4.5 50 HP diesel sail drives, 3-blade folding props -- approx. 977 and 1,015 hours; cruises at 7 knots
  • Electronics: Raymarine Axiom 7" and 12" displays, FLIR M232 thermal camera, Starlink Maritime In Motion
  • Power & Systems: Cummins 9 KW generator (sound-shielded), Victron Cerbo GX, 12V watermaker (105 L/H)
  • Comfort: Reverse-cycle A/C and heat in all staterooms and main salon; extra 400 L freshwater tank
  • Dimensions: 42 ft LOA  |  23 ft 1 in beam  |  4 ft max draft
  • Condition: Fresh bottom paint; US imported and duty paid

Propulsion & Handling

Nauti Habit is powered by twin Nanni 4.5 four-cylinder diesel engines producing 50 HP each -- a significant upgrade over the standard 30 HP factory fit. These engines deliver noticeably better performance and reserve power, particularly when motoring into headwinds or managing currents in tight anchorages. Both sail drives are fitted with upgraded three-blade folding propellers which minimize drag under sail while providing excellent bite under power. The port engine shows approximately 977 hours and the starboard engine approximately 1,015 hours. Cruising speed under power is a comfortable 7 knots. No bow or stern thrusters are fitted; the wide beam and independent twin-engine configuration provide ample low-speed control for confident single- or short-handed docking.

Electronics & Navigation

  • Raymarine Axiom 12" chartplotter/MFD at the helm
  • Raymarine Axiom 7" display -- secondary station
  • FLIR M232 thermal camera -- invaluable for night watches, collision avoidance, and man-overboard detection
  • Starlink Maritime In Motion -- high-speed satellite internet connectivity underway and at anchor
  • Platinum Lightning Protection System -- vessel-wide surge and strike protection

Electrical & Comfort Systems

The electrical and comfort systems aboard Nauti Habit reflect a serious investment in self-sufficiency. The Cummins 9 KW generator -- one of the most reliable units in its class -- is fitted with a sound shield for near-silent operation, making it practical to run at anchor without disturbing the peace. The Victron Cerbo GX battery monitor provides full system visibility and supports remote monitoring via the VictronConnect app.

  • Cummins 9 KW diesel generator with sound shield -- approximately 281 hours
  • Victron Cerbo GX battery monitor and energy management system
  • 12V watermaker producing 105 liters per hour -- freshwater independence wherever you cruise
  • Extra 400 L freshwater tank fitted in addition to standard tankage
  • Reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating in all three staterooms and the main salon

Galley & Accommodations

The galley runs along the starboard side of the main saloon, open to the living space and positioned to take full advantage of the garage-door opening to the cockpit. It is well-specified for passage cooking and extended provisioning.

  • 3-burner gas hob with gas oven
  • Combined 88-gallon refrigerator/freezer with chilled water dispenser

Nauti Habit is configured in the Owner's Version layout, dedicating the entire port hull to the master suite. This stateroom features an island bed accessible from both sides, a couch, a vanity and desk, and a large private bathroom with a separate stand-up shower stall. The starboard hull contains two guest cabins -- one with an island bed and one with a double berth -- each served by its own dedicated head with shower. The three-cabin, three-head arrangement is a meaningful advantage for charter use or cruising with family and friends, eliminating the shared-bathroom compromises common on smaller cats.

Deck & Cockpit

The outdoor living spaces aboard the Bali 4.2 are among the most generous in the 40-foot catamaran class. The aft cockpit opens fully via the signature garage door and flows into the saloon, creating an exceptional al fresco dining and entertaining area. The forward cockpit -- reached through a dedicated bow door -- provides a private, elevated seating space at the bow that is a genuine highlight of the Bali design and a feature buyers consistently comment on.

  • Full-width garage door opening between main saloon and aft cockpit
  • Forward cockpit with seating, accessible via dedicated forward-facing bow door
  • Swim ladder and outdoor shower located on the starboard transom
  • Stern BBQ -- currently using a standard residential propane tank
  • 10 ft 6 in GoDu aluminum dinghy with 15 HP Tohatsu outboard -- stows on swim platform
  • Swim platform sized to accommodate the GoDu tender for easy launch and retrieval

Sail Plan

As a sailing catamaran, the Bali 4.2 carries a conventional sloop rig suited to short-handed offshore sailing. The mast is stepped on the bridgedeck and supports a fully-battened main and furling headsail. The masthead location also hosts the FLIR M232 camera and downward-facing cameras that support docking and anchoring.

Safety & Anchoring

  • Upgraded 85 lb Mantus anchor with bridle -- excellent holding across sand, grass, and mud
  • Plastimo 10-person offshore life raft -- SOLAS-grade safety for bluewater passages
  • Vessel EPIRB -- registered emergency position-indicating radio beacon
  • Platinum Lightning Protection System -- vessel-wide protection

Summary

Nauti Habit represents a rare opportunity to step aboard a late-model, low-hour Bali 4.2 that has been genuinely prepared for offshore cruising -- not just weekend sailing. Every major system has been upgraded or enhanced: engines, electronics, power, climate, and water. She is offered at $699,999 and is available for immediate showing. Come see her and experience firsthand what sets this boat apart.

We take pride in our happy customers

Andrew Hodgdon at The Multihull Company was instrumental in our recent boat purchase. Andrew’s experience with performance catamarans was a key reason why we were comfortable and his straightforward communication style was very much appreciated when so much is at stake. We had a very fast viewing to close timeline on the other side of the country and Andrew always took our calls and responded quickly even with time differences which mattered a lot. We’re very happy with the outcome and Andrew played a crucial role.

Andrew is a super knowledgeable and helpful. Selling my Catamaran within a month.

I chose Zee (Zvonimir Kalinic) after posting an ad for a broker on Yacht Sales from about 15 other brokers because he showed professionalism and care right away compared to the others. Most of the brokers never intended to show people my boat but yet somehow expected to collect commission. Zee met me in Novigrad and spent 3 hours taking photos and drone footage and throughout the listing period was communicating continuously and advising me about any offers that came through. His service was at a high standard that I was extremely happy with and felt comfortable at all times especially since I’m in Sydney and my boat is in Montenegro. I can’t recommend Zee highly enough to anyone looking to sell their boat with peace of mind.

— Mark Eymes

The brokerage team has been amazing. They helped me find the right catamaran for our family of four, with enough space for extended family and friends to stay with us anytime. The broker really helped me narrow down what I needed. I started with a long list and eventually narrowed it down to something that was the right fit and price for me.

Our broker Mike Rybas was excellent – great experience!
