About
This global performance cruising catamaran was professionally yard built in Australia and at her completion the attending surveyor noted the very high standard of works, "There has been an excellent attention to detail throughout. The finish of hulls and decks is outstanding".
The hulls and deck were built with the more costly, but higher performing DURAKORE strip plank and used WEST epoxy system option. DUFLEX panels were used for the bulkheads and fitout, delivering a beautiful fit and finish. Highly loaded areas were further reinforced with carbon fibre. She is copper coated and having spent only 4 seasons in the water still has many years of Antifoul protection left.
Launched in 2011 and laid up in Malaysia in 2015 (with just four seasons use from new, including the Indonesia rally). In new ownership since 2019 and a significant amount of time and money has been spent refreshing her, with the mast coming down and new RONSTAN Dyform standing rigging installed, all around (Jan 2024), before re-stepping the mast and she also has all new Dyneema running rigging (Jan 2024). Her main engines were taken out and a full leg off service done (Dec 2023). 4 new RENOGY flexible 200 watt solar panels sourced (Easter 2024 still in boxes). New composite through hulls and fittings (Easter 2024 – New in boxes yet to be fitted). New hatch, mast clutch area and winch covers (Easter 2024) and new custom saloon covers (Easter 2024)
Kaly Jai is comfortable, safe and fast, this is a highly equipped and little used global cruising catamaran with her lifting dagger boards, lifting kick up rudders and lift up engines means she can get into places very few yachts can. She gets moving easily in little wind and can eat up the miles on passages, ideal for a couple cruising with friends or a family to live aboard in absolute comfort, she has been little used and the current owner, an electronics engineer, has spared no expense in preparing her for her new adventures.
Set up for safe and easy short-handed operation, she is easily sailed single handed with all control lines coming back to the cockpit. Great port side steering position with visibility all around with a protected enclosure as needed and a huge sun shade too to keep cool once you get to where you are going!
Bright and airy she is a truly lovely place to be, a high spec, little used professional yard build Schionning that would cost a huge amount to build again today, she presents very well having seen only light use and then undergone a major refresh under her current ownership, for which the next owner can be the one to benefit with the expensive / large works already done.
With an integrated water maker and all the key equipment’s needed to enjoy long distance cruising. The Original on build completion survey and current owners 2019 full pre purchase survey (with identified remedial works all completed) are both available to speed up the buying process, get in touch now to hear more about this truly great long distance cruising catamaran.

Bridgedeck
The interior of this cat is beautifully finished with a comfy set out. The galley down design frees a lot of space in the saloon, a neat navigation station, computer table, VHF radio etc, is to starboard and the L-shaped settee and solid wood table completes the space. The two forward facing saloon windows open for excellent ventilation. The large double aft doors and both large aft windows all open making it a lovely place to be even when its warm outside. A domestic air-conditioning unit (0.5 hp) really cools the boat down when alongside.
Port hull
Equipment space, with gas powered hot water heater and vessel systems in dedicated area access via head, Large Head and shower aft, galley midships with Gas hob and large fridge and sink with huge amounts of storage and a large double cabin forward. (She is a stretched Cosmos so the cabin is significantly larger than normal)
Starboard hull
Double cabin aft and double cabin forward. Walk through with huge amount of storage and a fold down chart table and chart storage.
Engines
Two 20hp HONDA four stroke outboards in pods. Can be lifted entirely out of the water to reduce drag and allow her to get into the shallowest of places on your adventures. Leg off service done and new carbs for both (not yet fitted new in box Easter 2024.)
Mast & Rigging
The vessel is fractionally rigged with a standard catamaran rig of double spreader rig stainless 10mm caps, 8mm lowers and stainless steel turnbuckles, Sta-Loks on lower terminals. The rig is heavy duty from AllYacht Spars as befits a long distance cruising cat. All standing rigging is new Ronstan with new style adjusters and the mast was dropped and professionally inspected, all running rigging is new Dyneema with messengers run where possible, so many of the lines are brand new (2024) yet to be fitted. Sloop rigged with a furling genoa (ProFurl), the asymmetric spinnaker is flown from the bow sprit (painted and stored internally 2024) on a furler. All sails were professionally cleaned and serviced when she was laid up and so are internally stored in excellent condition.

Dear Cynthia and Andrew,
I wanted to extend my sincere thanks to both of you and The Multihull Company team for the outstanding job you did in successfully closing the sale of our Excess 14. Despite the challenging environment — including new import tariffs and unique buyer requirements — you navigated everything with professionalism, perseverance, and efficiency.
The transaction was completed smoothly and in good time, which is a true credit to your dedication and expertise. Very well done.
Thank you again, and I wish you all the very best.
Warm regards,
Jurgen
We had an outstanding experience working with Andrew Hodgdon. From the very beginning, he demonstrated deep knowledge of the catamaran we were considering and took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for. He found us the perfect vessel that matched our needs and budget and negotiated a fantastic deal on our behalf.
What truly set him apart was he responsiveness—every question we had was answered promptly and thoroughly, and he guided us through the entire process with professionalism and care. We couldn’t be happier with the service and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated yacht broker.
Awesome company that worked as my brokerage on purchasing out FP catamaran. A special shoutout to Will Miller for walking us through the process
The process of selling our boat was made very smooth by the Multihull Company and Andrew Hodgdon in particular. Andrew helped us navigate the selling process including moving our boat from Grenada to Florida to execute the sale. We would recommend working with this company, and Andrew Hodgdon in particular, without hesitation.
