About
AtPractical Boat Ownerwe dont normally test boats that have just won their class in a highly competitive racing series.
This time, however, we made an exception, because the boat in question is a family cruiser.
It just happens to be a family cruiser thats fast, fun to sail and, yes, capable of winning races.
Practical Boat Owner review of the Salona 35, 10/25/2023
The Salona 35 is designed as a cruiser-racer, with a focus on blending comfort and livability with competitive sailing performance.
Relentless was ordered exceptionally well-optioned by her original owner, who optioned her as an offshore racer with an impressive sail inventory and a full-suite of B&G electronics. Her second owners took ownership in 2020 and added comfort features, including new upholstery and a full-cockpit stamoid/isinglass enclosure. Her third and current owners rounded out the boat with premium cruising features, including:
- 640W Solbian solar on individual charge controllers;
- Victron 2000W inverter/charger, MPPT controllers, and 375AH AGM super-cycle batteries;
- Marinaire 120V aircon
- Spectra 12V watermaker
- Yamaha outboard purchased new
- Gori 2 blade bronze folding prop
- Jabsco electric head
Relentless is an outstanding example of what makes a great cruising racer. After enjoying 3 years of coastal and Bahamian cruising, hosting friends and family along the way, the time has finally come for Relentless to find her next owners.

Construction
The hull is epoxy with carbon reinforcements in high-load areas, built around a stainless steel frame that spreads loads from the keel, rig and shrouds. This is the most premium method of modern construction available.
The Salona 35 had options for keel configurations; Relentless is equipped with the lead racing keel designed by Jason Ker of J&J design. This premium option offers exceptional upwind performance and improved stability. At 56 draft, shes plenty shallow to enjoy Bahamian cruising while still stable enough to enjoy longer offshore passages with total confidence.
Sails & Rigging
Relentless is equipped with a full battened Dacron mainsail, and with furling genoa each with one cruising season of use. The Genoa is on a Selden Furlex 200 TD furler; The mast and boom are Selden spars with Rodkicker boomvang and dyneema backstay adjustment for precision sail control. Additionally, Relentless transfers with a spinnaker in good condition.

The brokerage team has been amazing. They helped me find the right catamaran for our family of four, with enough space for extended family and friends to stay with us anytime. The broker really helped me narrow down what I needed. I started with a long list and eventually narrowed it down to something that was the right fit and price for me.
I cannot speak too highly of Andrew Hodgdon and his colleagues at the Multihull Company.
The process of selling my boat was very smooth and well managed and with excellent communication – especially important as I was unable to be nearby during the sale process. Andrew’s deep knowledge of the market and my boat was very reassuring. We spoke regularly and he kept me closely advised all the way through to a happy sale. I found him a good guy, very helpful, willing to share and bounce ideas around, and I enjoyed working with him. Highly recommended!
Andrew Hodgdon and The Multihull Company are really professional! I just closed a deal with them, and everything was pretty smooth. Andrew was punctual, showed a lot of expertise, and he was honest about all the problems with the boat. He is also giving me the support I need to run all the projects on this boat. This whole process was much better than I was expecting, and I recommend this team! Thank you, Andrew.
The multihull company, specifically Andrew Hodgson worked with me in the sale of Gods Grace, a 50’ Voyage 500. They made sure that as many people as possible touched it, laid hands on it, ultimately resulting in a offer and sale and was extremely helpful in the prep and sale process as I did not live locally… If you want to make sure that people actually see your vessel, will be honest and truly assist you in the sale, Andrew is the man for the job.
