Operation:
All systems are designed to be fully automatic. When plugged in or running on the generator, AC power is passed through Quattro 5000 to the Air conditioners and watermaker. Charging also occurs if needed. All the charge sources, solar, DCDC’s, and the Quatro are programmed for LiFePO4 batteries.
Expected Power consumption:
While using the batteries with no charge source ( night and no generator, engines running, or plugged in) we measured 250A or 3200watts with all the Air Conditioners on. With a battery bank of 3000 hrs, expect between 12 and 24 hours, depending on state of charge at the start, outdoor temperatures, thermostat settings, and how many AC’s are on.
During the day with full, solar will augment the power consumption and longer operation can be expected. Even if cloudy, there will still be some power supplied.
Charging Capability:
Total charging current is 610A. This would only occur at high noon and the batteries are at 12v. Typical operation would be to see 250A charge current.
When to start the generator or plug in:
The system will shut off the inverter when the battery is below 11.5v. The batteries will shut off around 10v to prevent internal damage. It is advised is to start the generator at or below 12v. 12v is approximately 20% power remaining, requiring an 80% refill. If at night expect to run the generator for 3000Ahr / (180+80+100) * 0.8 = 6 hours to get to full charge.
When running the vessel offshore at night, DCDC’s will provide up to 100A of charging from the engine alternators. This is not enough to cover the load of all air conditioners, but will supplement the power, extending the air conditioners operational run time.
Relion Battery internal protection:
The Relion batteries are designed to protect themselves from abuse. There is an internal protection circuit that will disconnect the battery if under voltage, over voltage or over current. If this occurs, identify the cause (most likely the voltage was too low). Disconnect the negative of the battery, verify there is a charge source, measures >13v, and reconnect the battery. The internal switch will turn back on.

Zvonimir heard that my vessel was back on the market and reached out to see what was going on. Nothing wrong with the boat! He put me in touch with Charles and we got her sold. Thanks for all the support and making it happen TMC!
Chuck was amazing throughout the entire process. Not sure how we could have navigated this without him and the Multihull team!
It gets no better than The Multihull Company. I’ve watched their great videos for years. When it was time to sell my catamaran, there were no other brokerages in consideration. THEY ARE THE CATAMARAN MARKET LEADERS!! Captain Will Miller has taken the company to the top level. They had an interested buyer prior to my listing going live. I was under contract the first week. The Multihull Company is an impressive organization.
