About

Balance 482 – Alcyon (Hull #8)

A Rare Opportunity to Own One of the World’s Most Sought‑After Performance Cruising Catamarans

Alcyon has less than 300 hours on each engine and only three months of use during the delivery from South Africa to Grenada. Shortly after arriving in Grenada, the boat was hauled and stored until it’s recent launch and is now sitting in Camper & Nicholson’s Port Louis Marina.

Step aboard Alcyon and experience what sailors around the world are talking about. Winner of Sailing World and Cruising World’s Best Performance Catamaran (2022), the Balance 482 has redefined what a modern cruising catamaran can be—fast, beautifully balanced, and effortlessly manageable by a couple.

Crafted for adventurers who refuse to compromise, Alcyon delivers an intoxicating blend of speed, safety, and luxury. Whether you dream of crossing oceans or savouring quiet anchorages, this yacht offers the freedom to go anywhere with confidence.

Why Alcyon Stands Out

  • Thrilling performance: Slice upwind at 7–10 knots and enjoy exhilarating reaching speeds of 8–14 knots. In ideal conditions, the 482 has surfed at 28 knots—performance few cruising cats can match.
  • Carbon‑reinforced, foam‑core construction: Light, stiff, and built for bluewater adventures.
  • High‑aspect daggerboards: Remarkable upwind efficiency and pointing ability.
  • VersaHelm system: Enjoy optimal visibility and control in any weather, seas, or helming preference.
  • Integrel high‑output charging: Cutting‑edge energy independence underway.
  • Premium Ullman ASDL tri‑radial sails: Designed for both durability and speed.
  • Fully outfitted electronics suite: Offshore‑ready and confidence‑inspiring.

This is a yacht that turns miles into memories—and does it with elegance.

Built for Owners Who Want More

The Balance 482 is for sailors who appreciate craftsmanship as much as capability. Each hull is meticulously hand‑laminated, vacuum‑bagged, and engineered with Balance’s strategic Carbon Cross reinforcement, creating a vessel that feels alive on the water yet stable and composed in a seaway.

The result:  A high‑performance catamaran that is genuinely enjoyable to sail, even short‑handed.

Generators

Integrel is classified as an “extra low voltage DC system” and falls within the scope of the international standard ISO 10133:2017 and ABYC E11

Integrel is a modern, intelligent way of generating, storing, and distributing electrical energy in off-grid applications, such as recreational marine craft, without fitting a standalone generator with a second engine. It’s completely automatic, delivering significant amounts of energy seamlessly throughout the vessel without user input. It’s fuel-efficient, reducing overall fuel consumption for propulsion and generation, and very cost-effective with virtually no maintenance costs. Integrel completely replaces a conventional generator and delivers all the power that you need to make living on board as comfortable as living at home.

Dual Integrel Systems

Alcyon has 2 propulsion engines and a dual Integrel system. With one generator on each engine and with 2 Intelligent controllers.

The advantages of a Dual Integrel System:

Double the charging capacity (18kW).

Half the battery charging time.

Redundancy in the case of a single engine failure, electrical fault or if there is a problem with either Integrel system.

We take pride in our happy customers

Chuck at The Multihull Company is the real deal.
He helped us find our Lagoon 40 after genuinely listening to what we needed, not just what he had to sell. He let us visit the boat multiple times, answered every question honestly, and helped us make a confident decision on a major purchase.
What impressed us most was the post-sale support. Once the paperwork was signed, Chuck was still picking up the phone, offering referrals, and helping us work through the early stages of liveaboard life. That kind of follow-through is rare.
If you are looking for a multihull and want someone who knows the boats and actually cares about the outcome, Chuck is the person to call.

— Richard Chandler

We just purchased a 2025 Nautitech 44 Open with The Multihull Company. The process of getting here has been great, and we could not have asked for a better agent. We worked with Conor, whom we met at the 2025 Cannes Boat Show. We started our search for a cruising catamaran in Florida at the beginning of the year. We spent a couple of months looking at different boats/models within our price range and quickly narrowed it down to what really mattered to us, in part thanks to the wealth of knowledge and expertise our broker provided. When we found a perfect match in Montenegro, Conor and The Multihull Company did not hesitate to continue supporting us and to lead the efforts from start to finish with great care and transparency. Communication and support have been outstanding throughout this entire process. Conor, in particular, showed great compassion and care, going above and beyond to ensure that no stone was left unturned and that we would be able to safely and happily sail off into our big adventure.

A sale well handled. No inflated expectations and an honest opinion throughout. Highly recommended.

Absolutely THE ONLY company to use for buying or selling a catamaran! Our Broker Andrew Hodgdon, was excellent to work with, an experienced catamaran captain with extensive knowledge of sailing catamarans, the ins and outs of the construction, performance, systems, everything involved and life on board catamarans. All of which is invaluable in looking for the right boat for someone to buy or helping market your boat when selling. The Multihull Company is so connected in the catamaran world and used by so many catamaran sailors and searchers that we had an interested buyer before our boat was even listed and a completed sale 60 days after her first showing!!! Thanks Andrew and all of the Multihull team who worked diligently to make it happen so smoothly!

— Linda W.

We had a great experience working with Andrew! He was extremely knowledgeable and listened to our needs of what we wanted our next boat to be. He responded quickly to all of our requests and got us to the finish line. Working with Multihull was seamless and we highly recommend using Andrew and Multihull.
