"Sirius Star" is fully equipped and ready to go sailing today. She was originally launched in Cape Town, South Africa in 2024 and is hull #10 of this coveted high-performance brand. Sirius Star has recently completed a full warranty service and received her annual haulout maintenance.
The original design premise for the Balance 442 was to create a catamaran that had wonderful sailing characteristics with luxurious and comfortable accommodations but was set up to still be easily operated by a retired couple. Therefore, these performance cruising vessels are equipped with powerful sail plans and daggerboards which allow them to sail circles around the competition while still being easily managed for shorthanded operation. As the name suggests, it is the perfect balance of sporty sailing characteristics and liveaboard comfort.
Balance Catamarans are well known for their stunning designs, exceptional build quality, and gorgeous fit and finish. They feature industry leading technology such as their signature VersaHelm steering system, Integrel charging technology, carbon fiber reinforced daggerboards, Ullman ASDL tri-radial laminate sails, state-of-the-art electronics suites, etc. The build process for these fantastic vessels incorporates Balances Carbon Cross design and construction techniques which utilizes E-glass fiberglass with significant Carbon Fiber reinforcement in the high load areas of the hulls and decks. Every Balance 442 is hand laminated and vacuum bagged with vinylester outer skin resin over closed cell foam cores. The end result is a lightweight, stiff, and robust vessel built for world voyaging.
Sirius Star has the desirable 3-cabin Owners Version layout. She is tastefully appointed with several custom touches, a beautiful light blue painted exterior hull, and an extensive list of factory options. Seating and lounge areas are strategically located throughout the cockpit and accommodation areas to ensure a fantastic hosting platform. With the innovative Balance VersaHelm – the helm station swings up and down with ease which revolutionized all weather sailing. You can pilot her up top in the sunshine and breeze or swing the helm down for full foul weather protection in the comfort of the cockpit – both positions offer 360 degree visibility and comfortable seating.
