About
Harmony is a professional built Schionning Wilderness 1650 that was completed by Custom Marine in Knysna, RSA to be its boat show centerpiece. The craftsmanship and construction quality are excellent. The interior is refined and comfortable with great visibility. The epoxy/frp/carbon reinforced hull make her a fast and durable cruiser with max sustained speeds in the 15-20 knt range.
She was designed with the idea of an ideal blend of great performance and grand luxury with a beam to length ratio of 13:1 coupled with high bridgedeck clearance guarantees that this boat performs exceptionally well, especially if the weight is kept sensible.
Harmony is a proven world traveler having visited Madagascar, Mozambique, and Namibia, then crossed the South Atlantic, and on to Brazil, the Caribbean, Bahamas, and the Eastern USA. She has been well maintained by her current owners and just returned from an extended season in New England.
She underwent a major refit in 2017 including 12kWh LiFePO4 batteries; then significant improvements in 2023 including new standing rig by US Spars, all new Victron and Garmin electronics, new SunPower eFlex solar panels, new Slipstream folding stainless steel props, EZ2CY dodger, salon and cockpit cushions. The engines were professionally rebuilt in 2017 as a preventative measure having sat unused for several years. They have just under 1200 hours each and are in very good condition.
The long waterline length with centralized weight and long fore and aft overhangs, loads of buoyancy including reserves high up forward in the hulls, a moderate rig and easily driven hulls, she has every desirable feature, making her extremely safe and an excellent design choice.
The accommodation volume is by no means on the small side, this is a big boat with the volume to suit. The layout can suit either a couple who don't want to compromise, using the volume to suit only themselves or alternatively, choose a layout to suit the whole family and accommodate everyone in comfort. The saloon and cockpit are very airy and spacious with all-round visibility, the bulkhead between, opened up as much as possible giving the feeling of one large indoor/outdoor area. This makes both areas feel much bigger than they would individually. With the wide beam, we have the luxury of a separate navigation station in the saloon.
In the cockpit the helm is set to one side leaving a nice open feel. This keeps the cockpit clean and uncluttered with plenty of space. On both sides of the cockpit the boat has incorporated generous sized day-beds, for couples this works well with the helm right next to the starboard day-bed. The shade-top is designed as a 'T' top with blinds that fill in the gaps, if shade is required, but great for the winter days when the sun is sought after.
The saloon is spacious enough to include comfortable seating, a nice navigation table and also a generous sized galley, with ample room for a full fridge and freezer and plenty of bench space for preparation. The rest of the accommodation offers two huge state cabins forward, with their own private lounge area. The aft cabin is also separate with a smaller lounge. All double bunks are island beds, leaving a space either side, giving a very spacious feel to the bunk area. There are two heads on board, the main head and shower is set centrally in the starboard hull. In the port hull aft there is a separate head and shower. This is mainly for the owners cabin, more of an en-suite but a huge one.
The Wilderness 1650 is a light, fast cruising cat with all the luxury included in the package. She is light on her feet and a pleasure to sail. Windward performance is excellent, with her long hulls and lean cabin, she has the safety and speed to be driven hard and yet retain some of the feel of a light easily handled smaller cat. Whether youre after comfort or speed, the Wilderness 1650 blends both together brilliantly.

Yacht Broker Micheal Streng did a fantastic job helping us buy our dream retirement boat. He is pleasant, professional, smart, diligent, and totally focused toward ensuring the best outcome for us- his clients.
He helped us identify the key features we wanted. And, helped us then learn the market by seeing firsthand seeing all the boats available. How? By organizing a two day driving extravaganza to see as many boats available from dawn to dusk.
But, his crucial expert assistance continued throughout the whole buying process… helping us craft multiple offers and counter offers to ensure we “bought-right”!
His expertise continued with calmly helping us organize the multitude of details, from sourcing survey experts and renegotiating credits for issues… to ensuring our foreign manufactured vessel had duty paid receipts… thus all saving us much aggravation and thousands of dollars!
In closing, sourcing and buying a boat right has adventurous elements of the “wild-west”. Our Broker – Micheal Streng was our LoneRanger & Tonto… expertly guiding and helping us to help make our dream a reality.

We purchased a Lagoon 470 catamaran through Zvonimir (Zee) Kalinic, TMC’s broker in Croatia and Italy. Zee is the ultimate professional and by far the best broker we have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Thankyou Zee for your professionalism, guidance and support in securing this purchase for our family! Not an easy task being Australian and purchasing in a foreign country but thanks to your help and the assistance of Andrew Holland in the office, this process was made so much more stress free.
Thank you Zee and The Multihull Compnay!
Andrew Hodgdon was a pleasure to have as a broker. He was always there for me and I appreciated his help and professionalism. Thank you Andrew!! Highly recommended.
Just wish to share our thanks with Cal Landau and The Multihull Company for their service selling our catamaran that we owned for nearly 15yrs. Cal our broker in West Palm Beach was THE BEST!
He worked with us beyond the call of duty in helping us prep and moor our boat during some horrendous weather that came through last Winter and always offered to lend a hand while we were in West Palm procuring supplies. etc. Cal was always present to show the boat, learned about our boat systems to answer questions from shoppers and made a very informative listing with great photos and video that attracted a lot of action. I wish to highly recommend Cal and The Multihull Co if you’re planning on putting your boat on the market.
The entire company was committed to my satisfaction as a seller. Andrew the broker went out of his way to help me prepare the boat for sale and in just 3 weeks we had it under contract. I had to be away from the country but Andrew the broker and Andrew (same name) the Chief Operating Officer walked me through all the paperwork needed and kept me informed at every stage of the sale. Boat owners don’t remain without a boat for long, if this is the case for me, I will certainly contact Andrew and the Multihull Company to be my broker.
