About
Brand New - BALANCE 482 “POLPO”
Meet “Polpo” she is the final chapter in one of the most respected performance-cruising catamarans ever created. As the last Balance 482 ever built, she represents the full evolution of the model: every lesson learned, every refinement made, and every detail perfected.
“Polpo” means octopus in Italian — one of the most intelligent, adaptable, and capable creatures throughout the ocean. It is a name that perfectly mirrors this performance cruiser: brilliantly designed, beautifully built, and ready to carry her next owner anywhere the imagination dares to go.
Finished in Luana Beige, her hull carries a warm, sun-washed tone that feels more like Mediterranean sand than stark white — rich, soft, and timeless
She is Brand new, recently launched and currently in Cape Town, South Africa - completing her commissioning. The mattresses still wear their factory plastic — she has never been cruised and never lived aboard. She is, in every meaningful way, untouched.
Due to family health issues, her owner is unable to take possession and pursue the journey they once dreamed of.
“Polpo” is offered through the Balance Pre-Owned Program, with the factory warranty fully transferable — giving her next owner not only a remarkable yacht, but factory-backed confidence from day one with several added benefits of the pre owned program
For the buyer who wants the feeling of a new catamaran without the long wait, Polpo is a once-only chance: to take possession in one of the world’s most iconic cities, to enjoy a complimentary factory tour and walk the very floors where she was built whilst meeting the craftsmen who poured a year of their lives into her creation.
Balance Catamarans have earned a reputation for combining striking design with serious offshore capability. Each yacht is known for its refined lines, high-quality construction, and beautifully executed interiors and finishes. They integrate forward-thinking technology throughout, including the trademark Versa Helm steering system, Integrel power generation, carbon-reinforced daggerboards, Ullman ASDL tri-radial laminate sails, and modern, fully integrated navigation and electronics packages.
Construction is equally impressive. Balance uses its proprietary “Carbon Cross” structural concept, blending E-glass fiberglass with substantial carbon fiber reinforcement in all major load-bearing areas of the hulls and decks. Every Balance 482 is hand-laminated and vacuum-bagged using a vinylester outer skin over closed-cell foam cores. This advanced process produces a structure that is light, stiff, and exceptionally strong—purpose-built for long-range cruising and true blue-water sailing.

I chose Zee (Zvonimir Kalinic) after posting an ad for a broker on Yacht Sales from about 15 other brokers because he showed professionalism and care right away compared to the others. Most of the brokers never intended to show people my boat but yet somehow expected to collect commission. Zee met me in Novigrad and spent 3 hours taking photos and drone footage and throughout the listing period was communicating continuously and advising me about any offers that came through. His service was at a high standard that I was extremely happy with and felt comfortable at all times especially since I’m in Sydney and my boat is in Montenegro. I can’t recommend Zee highly enough to anyone looking to sell their boat with peace of mind.
The brokerage team has been amazing. They helped me find the right catamaran for our family of four, with enough space for extended family and friends to stay with us anytime. The broker really helped me narrow down what I needed. I started with a long list and eventually narrowed it down to something that was the right fit and price for me.
I cannot speak too highly of Andrew Hodgdon and his colleagues at the Multihull Company.
The process of selling my boat was very smooth and well managed and with excellent communication – especially important as I was unable to be nearby during the sale process. Andrew’s deep knowledge of the market and my boat was very reassuring. We spoke regularly and he kept me closely advised all the way through to a happy sale. I found him a good guy, very helpful, willing to share and bounce ideas around, and I enjoyed working with him. Highly recommended!
Andrew Hodgdon and The Multihull Company are really professional! I just closed a deal with them, and everything was pretty smooth. Andrew was punctual, showed a lot of expertise, and he was honest about all the problems with the boat. He is also giving me the support I need to run all the projects on this boat. This whole process was much better than I was expecting, and I recommend this team! Thank you, Andrew.
