About

Balance 482 – Hōkūleʻa (Hull 12)

$1,580,000  |  2024

This is the newest, lowest-hours, highest-spec and best-condition Balance 482 to hit the market to date.

Hōkūleʻa presents as close to new as you will find, with around 500 engine hours and exceptionally light usage since launch. The owner was thoughtful and went all in on the options list while paying careful attention to weight. If there was an upgrade that improved livability, performance, or safety, the box was ticked. This, combined with the vessel’s age, condition, and specification, makes her stand out in today’s market.

High spec, beautiful condition, low hours — this Cruising World Best Catamaran 2022 platform is exceptional.

ABOUT THE BALANCE 482Designed for cruisers unwilling to sacrifice speed

Winner of Sailing World and Cruising World’s Best Performance Catamaran (2022), the Balance 482 is a scaled-down version of the record-setting Balance 526. With carbon-reinforced foam-core hulls, dual daggerboards, and a powerful sail plan, the 482 delivers exceptional performance across all wind ranges. She points high with minimal leeway and reaches comfortably in the 8–14 knot range. Top surfing speeds have reached 28 knots.

Speed and Ease of Operation

The 482 is fast — but also engineered for shorthanded cruising. Her self-tending blade jib makes tacking effortless. All sail handling is centered at the helm, and with dual furling headsails, electric winches, and a traveler-free mainsheet system, she is exceptionally easy to sail.

Carbon-Cross Performance Hulls

Each hull is hand-laminated with E-glass and extensive carbon reinforcement in all high-load areas, supported by closed-cell foam cores for strength, rigidity, and optimal weight distribution.

Gorgeous Interior Design & Finish

This is the owner’s version configuration with:

• Full starboard owner’s hull
• Queen+ berths in both guest cabins
• Large owner’s shower
• Bamboo cabinetry with satin finish
• Modern salon with 360-degree visibility
• Convertible saloon table (dining, coffee table, or spare queen berth)

The interior shows minimal wear (interior and exterior crew covers on so upholstery like new) and condition reflects meticulous ownership.

Award-Winning VersaHelm®

The Balance VersaHelm allows steering from:

• Up
• Mid
• Down (protected helm)

This system creates unmatched visibility and true all-weather capability.

We take pride in our happy customers

The brokerage team has been amazing. They helped me find the right catamaran for our family of four, with enough space for extended family and friends to stay with us anytime. The broker really helped me narrow down what I needed. I started with a long list and eventually narrowed it down to something that was the right fit and price for me.

— Adam Munder

Our broker Mike Rybas was excellent – great experience!

I cannot speak too highly of Andrew Hodgdon and his colleagues at the Multihull Company.

The process of selling my boat was very smooth and well managed and with excellent communication – especially important as I was unable to be nearby during the sale process. Andrew’s deep knowledge of the market and my boat was very reassuring. We spoke regularly and he kept me closely advised all the way through to a happy sale. I found him a good guy, very helpful, willing to share and bounce ideas around, and I enjoyed working with him. Highly recommended!

— Allan Morrison

Andrew Hodgdon and The Multihull Company are really professional! I just closed a deal with them, and everything was pretty smooth. Andrew was punctual, showed a lot of expertise, and he was honest about all the problems with the boat. He is also giving me the support I need to run all the projects on this boat. This whole process was much better than I was expecting, and I recommend this team! Thank you, Andrew.

— Gustavo Machado

The multihull company, specifically Andrew Hodgson worked with me in the sale of Gods Grace, a 50’ Voyage 500. They made sure that as many people as possible touched it, laid hands on it, ultimately resulting in a offer and sale and was extremely helpful in the prep and sale process as I did not live locally… If you want to make sure that people actually see your vessel, will be honest and truly assist you in the sale, Andrew is the man for the job.
