About

About Time was just exhibited by Balance Catamarans at the recent Annapolis Sailboat Show. She is a stunning example of their award-winning Balance 442 performance catamaran.

This is your opportunity to purchase the best equipped example of the highly desirable Balance 442 catamaran currently on the market. About Time is in exceptional condition and ready to go sailing today. She is hull #5 of this coveted high-performance brand with her current owners taking delivery in Cape Town, South Africa in early 2023.They have sailed her extensively over the past couple years including her initial Atlantic crossing, Caribbean Island hopping, and cruising the northeast of the US East Coast. She is now strategically located in St Augustine, FL..

The original design premise for the Balance 442 was to create a catamaran that had wonderful sailing characteristics with luxurious and comfortable accommodations but was also set up to be easily operated by a retired couple. Therefore, these performance cruising vessels are equipped with powerful sail plans and daggerboards which allow them to sail circles around the competition while still being easily managed for shorthanded operation. As the name suggests, it is the perfect balance of sporty sailing characteristics and liveaboard comfort.

Balance Catamarans are well known for their stunning designs, exceptional build quality, and gorgeous fit and finish. They feature industry leading technology such as their signature VersaHelm steering system, Integrel charging technology, carbon fiber reinforced daggerboards, Ullman ASDL tri-radial laminate sails, state-of-the-art electronics suites, etc.The build process for these fantastic vessels incorporates Balances Carbon Cross design and construction techniques whichutilizes E-glass fiberglass with significant Carbon Fiber reinforcement in the high load areas of the hulls and decks. Every Balance 442 is hand laminated and vacuum bagged with vinylester outer skin resin over closed cell foam cores. The end result is a lightweight, stiff, and robust vessel built for world voyaging.

About Time has a 3-cabin Owners Version layout that is tastefully appointed with several custom touches, a stunning exterior hull color, and an extensive list of factory options. She sports all the most modern equipment available for a liveaboard voyager.Several equipment highlights include:

  • Dual Yanmar VC20 Electric Throttles (at up and down helm positions)
  • 48V Victron Lithium House Battery Bank - with 2 additional batteries added to standard
  • 2 x Autopilots - second unit independent of the NMEA network with a controller at lower helm

Absolutely THE ONLY company to use for buying or selling a catamaran! Our Broker Andrew Hodgdon, was excellent to work with, an experienced catamaran captain with extensive knowledge of sailing catamarans, the ins and outs of the construction, performance, systems, everything involved and life on board catamarans. All of which is invaluable in looking for the right boat for someone to buy or helping market your boat when selling. The Multihull Company is so connected in the catamaran world and used by so many catamaran sailors and searchers that we had an interested buyer before our boat was even listed and a completed sale 60 days after her first showing!!! Thanks Andrew and all of the Multihull team who worked diligently to make it happen so smoothly!

Chris Block was our broker. He was great. He went above and beyond what we thought we needed. His expertise helped us get our dream boat for way less than expected. I will use TMC and Chris Block in the future. Definitely recommend.

Chris Rundlett in Grenada was my buyers broker for a catamaran I purchased in Tortola.
The buying process was problematic with numerous mechanical issues needing attention. Throughout the process he was fantastic. I would highly recommend him if you’re looking to buy a boat in the Caribbean.
