Bernard Tarres

Yacht Broker

Meet Bernard Tarres, a yacht sales expert with a passion for catamarans and a long history in the maritime industry.

At the age of 16, he discovered his love for sailing while in Brittany and spent several years honing his skills at sailing schools. At 18, he purchased his own Hobbie Cat 16 and raced along the French and Italian coastlines.

From 1986 to 1990, he served as a permanent crew member on several racing catamarans, including JET SERVICE and ORANGE. He also raced on Formule 40’ and set records aboard CHARLEMAGNE.

In 1992, he had the opportunity to join the largest cruising catamaran project at the time, working on HIGHEST HONOUR 1 & 2, which were built in the South of France. He served as a technical reference for seven months and completed four Atlantic crossings on board, as well as a refit back in France. His technical expertise was highly valued throughout this period.

With his professional French captain’s license in hand, he has since sailed on large monohull and multihull boats in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the East Coast of the United States, and French Polynesia. Despite owning a 67’ wooden Herreschoff classic yacht for regattas, he continues to regularly cruise on multihulls, which remain his preferred sailing vessel.

Now based in La Ciotat, France, Bernard works as a broker for The Multihull Company, where he uses his extensive knowledge and experience to help clients choose the perfect catamaran for their needs or in the sale of their multihull in France.
