About
La Mer Kat is a Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40. Due to her size she is easy to handle, even short handed, yet still feels like a larger boat when at anchor. When you are in a marina, however, you will love the manouvrability of this yacht.
She is professionally maintained by a full-time maintenance team at Conch Charters in the British Virgin Islands. You could take advantage of the existing charter booking portfolio before taking the boat out of fleet. Alternatively the bookings could be moved onto another vessel and you can sail off into the sunset.
La Mer Kat benefits from:
The Lucia 40 is built to combine comfort and sailing performance. The cockpit is spacious. In fact, it is almost the size of the cockpit of the Helia 44—the next size up in the Fountaine Pajot line. The portside L-shaped dinette can accommodate up to six adults, and there is additional seating along the transom and on the starboard-side lounge. The perfect social space that also has a plumbed in propane BBQ. The entire cockpit is protected by a composite coach roof which also serves as an anchor point for the large mainsheet traveler. Behind the traveller are 3 100W rigid solar panels helping to keep the batteries topped up, perfect for longer distance cruising.
The helm pod to starboard is elevated and molded into the coach roof, with access from the deck as well as via a set of steps from the cockpit. There are a number of nice features here: the seat accommodates the captain and a companion, with ample room for two to work (one to steer and one to manage the three Lewmar winches). All the lines run back directly to the helm making single handed sailing a breeze. Yet another set of steps leads up to the coachroof where the boom is low enough that it’s easy to reach over and tuck away the mainsail at the end of the day. In addition, the Raymarine multifunction display is conveniently located, and there is a small sheet bin built in to keep the spaghetti tidy.
The saloon is on the same levels as the cockpit and is surprisingly spacious for a boat of only 40 feet. Step through the sliding glass door into a living room where six can gather around an L-shaped settee that also creates a seat for the angled nav station.
The galley spans the main deck so the cook isn’t buried in a hull. La Mer Kat includes Vitrifrigo refrigeration drawers next to the door to starboard, a Isotherm side opening freezer, a sink by the aft window that opens to the cockpit, and an Eno stovetop that actually offers three burners rather than the standard two.
La Mer Kat is the Quatuor version of the Lucia 40 offering 2 cabins and 1 shared head per hull. Each cabin is spacious with a Queen sized bed. The heads feature Jabsco electric heads and a shower stall.
La Mer Kat is a very comfortable cruising catamaran with all the important features such as, comfortable cockpit, lots of interior volume, safe helm station and good performance.
La Mer Kat was in the BVI during the storms of 2017. Since then she was repaired and has been in charter service with Conch Charters for the last 7 years.

Zvonimir heard that my vessel was back on the market and reached out to see what was going on. Nothing wrong with the boat! He put me in touch with Charles and we got her sold. Thanks for all the support and making it happen TMC!
Chuck was amazing throughout the entire process. Not sure how we could have navigated this without him and the Multihull team!
It gets no better than The Multihull Company. I’ve watched their great videos for years. When it was time to sell my catamaran, there were no other brokerages in consideration. THEY ARE THE CATAMARAN MARKET LEADERS!! Captain Will Miller has taken the company to the top level. They had an interested buyer prior to my listing going live. I was under contract the first week. The Multihull Company is an impressive organization.
Was a pleasure working with Andrew Hodgdon as buyers agent for our recent multihull purchase. Very knowledgeable of this space and for sure my first call buying or selling a yacht.
The multihull company has been great to work with. They were very helpful in every stage of our purchase from instill showings to purchase. Karl Reed, Andrew Hodgon and Andrew Holland were great sources of information and helped us find our dream Catamaran. Thank you Multihull!
