“Friends” is a sleek racer/cruiser trimaran designed by well-respected multihull designer, builder and sailor, Walter Greene. She was built in fiberglass/foam sandwich composite at the designer’s Greene Marine yard in Yarmouth, Maine, USA. “Friends” was built with the intention of entering the 1994 Two Star race, but she never competed. She’s been used primarily for seasonal performance cruising in New England waters.

“Friends” will deliver satisfying performance on all points of without being so high powered as to be impractical. She offers a seamanlike interior with accommodations for up to three persons. “Friends” has benefited from regular yard maintenance and upgrades and is ready to go.

Accommodations
“Friends”has a functional and seamanlike interior. Interior surfaces are paintedwhite. Berth surfaces are fitted with 4 in. upholstered foam cushions.

Vessel Walk-Through
The forepeak has a single 6.5 ft. long berth. An Air-Headself-contained composting marine head is located aft of the singleberth.

Next aft is the main cabin. There is a single 6.5 ft. long berth toport and to starboard. A 2 ft. x 2.5 ft. folding table is provided withseating for 3 x persons. The aft portion of the main cabin houses thegalley.

A companionway leads from the main cabin to the cockpit. The auxiliary engine is below the cockpit.

Design and Construction
“Friends”is an open-wing, aft cockpit trimaran with 2 x crossbeams connectingthe three hulls. The main hull has extensions between the crossbeamsand well above the waterline to increase interior volume. A hard dodgerprotects the cockpit. She has a vertically retracting daggerboard forlateral resistance and a tiller-operated rudder with skeg.

Hulls and decks are constructed over male molds of fiberglassfoam-core composite with WEST epoxy resin. The crossbeams are carboncomposite. Major stress points are carbon reinforced. The hulls arepainted with white Awlgrip and the decks are painted with polyurethanein desert sand with substantial non-skid. Bottom paint is InterluxMicron.
