“Alacrity“ (formally “Bird”) is a modern high performance racing/cruising trimaran from the board of well-known multihull designer Dick Newick. She was expertly built by Lone Star Multihulls of Brownsville, TX, USA under the close supervision of her original owner, Andy Green. Mr. Green is a composite design expert who undertook a conversion from the originally designed WEST System® construction to state of the art composite construction utilizing Core-Cell® foam, carbon fiber, glass, and epoxy resin. Every component was weighed and core/skin laminate samples were tested for strength. Construction was completed at the design weight and the yacht has proven to be extremely fast and rugged. The original owner won several ocean races by large margins.

“Bird” was purchased by her present owner in 2003 with a planned several-year program of ocean racing and was renamed “Alacrity”. In preparation for her racing schedule, “Alacrity” was lengthened by 2’ in the bow by Greene Marine in Yarmouth, ME, USA and a carbon wing mast with Kevlar® standing rigging and a carbon boom were installed. She was campaigned along the USA east coast and in the UK, placing first or second in every race entered. In 2006, “Alacrity” won the rugged Around Britain and Ireland race (AB&I).

In contrast to her racing accomplishments, “Alacrity” is also a capable high performance cruiser. Imagine being able to sail fast enough to avoid bad weather. Shorter passage times allow use of smaller weather windows and less time spent at sea provides added safety and more time to explore your cruising destinations.

“Alacrity” is for sale because her owner has now completed his planned racing program. She is ready to give her next owner the ride of his/her life.
