The islands of the Caribbean are indisputably catamaran country because of the strong trade winds, abundant anchorages, and a wide range of exotic islands which ensure a sailor a slice of heaven. Over the past ten years, the Multihull Company has expanded its brokerage presence in the Caribbean enormously. Today, the Multihull Company has offices and brokers in Tortola, St. Martin, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Trinidad. The Multihull Company can help you haul, service and survey your sailing vessel. In short, the Multihull Company can help you manage every facet of a catamaran sale throughout the entire Caribbean.
Tortola, the main commercial island of the BVI, is very much the heart of the North American charter market, where a wide range of charter companies operate bases, including Multihull Company partner, Dream Yacht Charter. At any given time, there are usually 20 to 30 catamarans for sale on the island. Broker Captain Jason De Shay expertly serves the Multihull Company’s brokerage clients in both the USVI and BVI. Jason actually lives on a 60-foot catamaran, but works from our office in Maya Cove, Tortola. Jason grew up on the Barnegat bay in New Jersey sailing Hobie cats and Sunfish. He brings a high level of live aboard sailor's knowledge to the table at The Multihull Company. He has lived aboard and sailed his own vessels for the past ten years on the U.S. East Coast and Florida Keys. He is a U.S. Coast Guard Master with 20 years experience on the water and has been in the sailboat brokerage industry since 2005. Capt. Jay has been successful in helping people find the perfect boat and helped them avoid the disappointments of purchasing the wrong boat. He has a broad knowledge of multihull and monohull design, systems and specifications. His experience on a wide array of vessels, along with his live-aboard, charter and broker experience, lend itself to a discriminating eye that is a unique attribute to help clients find the boat that best suits their needs. He is dedicated to his life's passion of sailing and the sea and loves to share his experience with others. Jason operates from our Tortola office in the British Virgin Islands where he lives and works with his wife Bernadette in the charter catamaran industry. Multihulls Tortola is located in Maya Cove, at the Hodges Creek Marina, a full-service facility where the Multihull Company docks, moors or repairs catamarans which are for sale.
Through The Multihull Company's partnership with Dream Yacht Charter the Dream Yacht Charter base manager will assist you in Maya Cove with all of your sailing needs. Yann arrived in Tortola at the end of 2008 after spending two years at Multihulls Mahe where he received commercial training in the sailing business. Keen about sailing, traveling and surfing, Yann will graciously put his professional skills and knowledge of catamarans at your disposal. He can also guide you to the islands best surf spots. Saint Martin is the smallest inhabited island and is divided between two nations, French to the North and Dutch to the South. French, English and Dutch are spoken on the island and the currency is both Euros and U.S. Dollars. It is unquestionably one of the best places to list a catamaran for sale or to haul, survey, or maintain a catamaran as there are an abundant range of excellent marine services. The Multihull Company’s most active broker in St. Martin is Alexis de Boucaud, who splits his time between our office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and his home in St. Martin. Alexis is the former director of Nautor's Swan Charters on the island and has been listing and brokering yacht sales in St. Martin for over 15 years. His ability to speak and write both French and English, and his deep understanding of the details of French yacht documentation and laws are invaluable to the Multihull Company’s many international buyers and sellers who rely on us to assist them in St. Martin. Alexis is joined by Gregoire Brisset, who works from our Dream Yacht Charter base office in Marigot, St. Martin. Grégoire was born in 1960 in Madagascar and has been traveling almost every day since. A sailing instructor since the age of seventeen, then a professional sailor, he lived in Africa prior to heading to the Caribbean in 1990. That's when he discovered the Catana shipyard and has followed the brand closely ever since. He is most certainly the Multihull Company’s resident Catana repair expert in the Northern Caribbean. Like Alexis, Gregoire speaks fluent French and English. For those sailors who want to discover the full beauty of the Caribbean, Multihulls Guadeloupe at the Marina Bas-du-Fort is located halfway between Martinique and Saint Martin and is known as the hub of the West Indies. Base manager Frederic Viarouge, a 30-year old native of St. Malo, France, spent two years as the technical manager for Beneteau. But the call of the sea was too strong and he turned his attention to managing Multihulls Guadeloupe and the Dream Yacht Charter base. His catamaran technical expertise is second to none and he is a vital source of support not only for our clients who are buying or selling a catamaran, but for our customers who are out voyaging in the French islands and need advice or support of any kind.
Martinique is one of the showcases of the French Caribbean Islands. It really is like a “little France,” with more than a dash of warm Caribbean hospitality. The harbor town of Le Marin is the heart and soul of the French catamaran charter trade, a bustling port where hundreds of catamarans are sold, repaired, or sent out for charter, many of them from the Multihull Company’s partner charter company, Dream Yacht Charter.
