Sea-Tribe 870

About the Sea-Tribe 870

Sea TribeThe Sea-Tribe 870 is an 8.7m (28’ 8") catamaran - fun, fast and rigged for simple, single-handed sailing.

This is a CE Certified ocean-going vessel, with comfortable, live-aboard accommodation, for a family or group of 6 and with the spacious bridgedeck and forward netting area the 870 is an ideal day-sailer for larger groups (with the deck space of a 45’-50’ monohull).

Moreover, with a variety of different configurations to choose from, you are able to optimize the design of the yacht to suit your needs. For instance, you can increase the mast height, or replace the bridgedeck with a netting trampoline, saving weight and increasing the freeboard from 0.7m to 1m.

Aside from these options, the internal furniture configuration is completely customizable with the constraints of the bulkhead positions.

The 870 is also a transportable catamaran and can be towed, assembled and launched using a custom trailer – ideal for economic over-land relocation, winterizing or slipping for maintenance (we also offer a launching dolley - a simple, lightweight trailer without full towing capabilities). The skeg keels are designed to take the weight of the yacht on the trailer, thus also making the 870 entirely beachable.
Sea Tribe

The 870 has the major advantage of being shipped anywhere in the world in a shipping container.  This is undoubtedly the safest and most cost effective means for the overseas client to be able to take delivery of the vessel.

Additionally, if the owner of a Sea Tribe 870 wants to change his cruising grounds, he can simply dismantle the vessel, ship her elsewhere in a container, and reassemble the vessel in the new location.  Few, if any other catamarans, have this capability. The 870 has a deep, child-friendly, enclosed bridgedeck and all lines lead to the steering position, which, with the self-tacking jib, eliminates the necessity of leaving the bridgedeck area for sail-handling.

Even with the standard mast height, the 870 is very capable of reaching speeds in excess of 15kts.
