This yacht was purchased by the present owner new and fully completed by Prouts’ yard at Canvey Island in the UK in late 1998. She was used as their Southampton Boat Show exhibit for that year.
After the Boat Show she was sailed to the Mediterrean and kept in various marinas in Mallorca (Spain’s Balearic Islands) where the owner was living at the time and used as a family boat on weekends and the usual summer cruise. In 2003, upon the owners retirement, his wife and he moved aboard and sailed her first to Gibraltar, then the Canary Islands and finally to the Caribbean where they based and lived aboard for the following three years cruising all the Eastern Caribbean islands. Latterly they settled on Bequia – part of St Vincent and the Grenadines – where they moved ashore only then using the boat for occasional cruises.
She is an extremely safe and solidly constructed boat. In all the years of sailing she has never given them a moment’s concern despite our meeting the usual variety of storms that every sailor encounters. She has been constantly maintained (both engines having been re-built, to port in 2006 and to starboard in 2009) and thanks to Prouts’ hand-laid GRP hull, there never has been any signs of osmosis and the hulls are today as good as they were when laid down in 1998. Whilst she could use a little TLC, this is only to cosmetic detail and does not detract from the overall quality of the craft.
