SWIFT is a spectacular maxi-multihull with an illustrious history. She offers the ultimate in high-tech, multihull performance to a cruising yachtsman - a very rare combination and opportunity. Bought from the GITANA team in September 2010 for a South Pacific cruising program, she spent six months in refit in Lorient, France to convert her from a stripped-down racing machine to an elegant cruising thoroughbred. After sailing 16,000 miles through the Atlantic and South Pacific, she has ended her cruising program in Australia. She is now being delivered back to the West Indies where she will be available for sale.
She was designed and built in 2000 by Gillles OLLIER at the legendary MULTIPLAST yard in France to participate in THE RACE (as INNOVATION EXPLORER), the around the world race for G-Class catamarans. She finished second in 65 days, skippered by Loick PEYRON. In 2002 she broke the around the world record (Jules Verne Trophy) as ORANGE, skippered by Bruno PEYRON this time. She still holds several several sailing records in the Pacific: New York to San Francisco in 43 days; San Francisco to Yokohama in 11 days; Hong Kong to London in 42 days...
Her conversion and upgrades were conceived by a reknowned yachtsman who has successfully refitted several large, prestigious power and sailing yachts to fit his very contemporary design vision and uncompromising standards. Upgrades were carried out using only the highest quality materials and state-of-the-art equipment. The port hull is dedicated to the owner and guests in three cabins/three baths and a salon, while the starboard hull houses the crew and technical equipment. Gilles Ollier, the original designer and builder, oversaw and supervised all structural modifications.
This yacht is a rare and successful association of performance, contemporary design and cruising amenities and represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of history.
Available for sea trials in the West Indies from early 2012.
