A finely built, custom Kurt Hughes performance voyaging catamaran for the serious offshore cruiser. As the hulls were U.S. built, she could also be converted into a U.S. Coast Guard certified day charter cat. Take a look at the photos - very high bridge deck clearance, dual daggerboards, powerful rig, lean hulls; a serious high performance catamaran for those who truly enjoy sailing and want to knock off 250 mile days with ease. I had the opportunity to sail STRAY CAT recently: it motors in the range of 9 to 12 knots and sails 10-15 knots in moderate conditions under genoa and main.
Designed by Kurt Hughes and constructed by Spreng Enterprises of Deland, FL. Hull construction is pre-preg AL600 Baltek coring with epoxy resin glass mat, decks are cored with marine grade plywood and balsa, vacuum bagged and post cured. Deck and hull white "Awl Grip" 2006 in Key West Florida. Double spreader, aluminum sloop rig.
Two new Yanmar 75 hp turbo diesels installed in 2005 with ZF gears and straight shaft drive.
Finished out over a two year period (2005 and 2006) with new engines and gears, new sails, generator, water maker, fuel tanks, running rigging, spinlocks, organizers, KVH satellite TV, air conditioning, water heater, trampoline, navigation and entertainment electronics, large tender.
A new generator, underwater lights and other upgrades were fitted in late 2007. The boat was hauled, bottom painted and the rig dropped and inspected in November 2007. This yacht is being continually upgraded and maintained by a professional crew.
With her very shallow draft of 2.6 ft, this is an ideal yacht for cruising the Bahamas, Florida Keys, Chesapeake or even South Pacific atolls on a very large and confortable yacht. To learn about this fine catamaran, contact Alexis de Boucaud at our Florida office. |
