Custom Woods Nimbus 42 - “Whitebird ”

Custom Woods Nimbus 42 - “Whitebird ”

“Whitebird” is a Nimbus 42 cruising catamaran designed by well-known UK catamaran designer Richard Woods. She was built on the UK east coast in fiberglass foam sandwich by two Air Force engineers. The original design was extended by two feet, creating additional space in the bridgedeck salon. She was initially launched in 1998, although she was unrigged and interior, engine and instrumentation work was incomplete. The project languished afloat until purchase by the current owners in 2002. The new owners stepped the mast and completed the interior, instrumentation and engine installation from 2002 to 2005.

“Whitebird” completed an 800-mile maiden voyage to Bristol in the southwest UK. In 2005 she made a summer cruise to the south coast of Ireland. In June 2006 she left England with her husband and wife crew and sailed to the Mediterranean via the coasts of France, northern Spain and Portugal. Her owners lived aboard for two years in Spain, the Balearic Islands and Morocco before crossing the Atlantic Ocean via Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Tobago at the beginning of 2009.

“Whitebird” is a spacious and comfortable live-aboard catamaran. She has three sleeping cabins fitted with 2 x full-size double berths, one queen-size berth and one single berth. There are 2 x heads. The galley is “down” in the starboard hull and the dinette area, navigation station and a workshop area are in the bridgedeck salon. “Whitebird” is a strongly built and capable cruising catamaran. She is perhaps not as “glitzy” as a typical production catamaran of similar size, but her practical finishes will be easier to maintain.

“Whitebird” is reluctantly for sale because of family obligations in the UK. Here’s your chance to acquire a well-found cruising catamaran that’s already in a wonderful cruising area.
