I just visited and inspected this fine Catana 471 in Tahiti on September 1st, 2010. Overall, she shows as a 7.5 to 8 on a one to ten scale for a boat of her vintage. Her hulls are well buffed and waxed, deck fittings look great, and overall fiberglass condition is excellent. Her interior looked very good as well. Her electronics are extensive and modern. She is very much a turn key voyager ready to sail in confidence to just about anywhere.
SIMPATICA is the ultimate cruising machine. This owner version Catana 471 is spectacular in every department. She is beautifully maintained and continuously upgraded by her live-aboard owners. The owners of this yacht have combined their extensive experience of offshore cruising and appreciation of state-of-the-art systems to take this Catana to another level. SIMPATICA is a "tweaked" performance sailing yacht. Take a moment to review the recent photos and specifications attached. Carbon mast by ESPACE COMPOSITES; a versatile suit of sails includes a recent main and genoa by INCIDENCES (2008), gennaker on carbon bowsprit and spinnaker. This yacht has everything required for extended, safe bluewater cruising - new 110V NORTHERN LIGHTS 5 KVA generator, new air conditioning throughout, 2 x watermakers (SPECTRA 12V and new WATERCRAFT engine driven), 8 solar panels, ICOM SSB with PACTOR modem, MIMI M sat sytem, RAYMARINE radar. Her electronics and entertainment equipment are worthy of a large motoryacht. Electronics are fully redundant with 2 x sets of nav electronics (B&G and RAYMARINE) and 2 x autopilots (B&G and RAYMARINE) to name just the mission critical items. The electronics were fully updated in late 2008.
SIMPATICA's interior is tastefully appointed and functional. The galley features CORIAN countertops. A washer/dryer is fitted in the owner cabin; a custom drawer-chest in the owner's cabin provides added storage capacity. Top of the line BOSE audio system and fold-out LCD TV screen. The starboard bow compartment is fitted with a workshop complete with workbench and built-in tool and parts chests.
This remarkable yacht is currently cruising in Fiji. She has just been hauled in early April 2011 for new bottom paint, zincs and saildrive maintenance. Her owners are welcoming showings in Fiji and will deliver her to a new owner anywhere in the South Pacific or Asia.
