Very few Catana 522 Caligo models exist, only seven or so were built. La Marene is one of them, and she is special indeed - a custom built owner's version, never chartered, impeccably cared for and loaded with every option imaginable. Her interior woodwork is to the highest standard ever offered by Catana - gloss wood finishes, alcantara ceilings, and fine appointments everywhere you turn. But she remains a Catana to her core, sporting a carbon rig, composite hulls of vinylester and kevlar, composite bulkheads, dual daggerboards, etc. She is lovely, in other words, but still sails with grace and alacrity. This is no charter barge, we can assure you! La Marene has been cared for like a jet aircraft by her fastidious owner and her inventory is extensive. Please click on the full specifications tab to go over every detail of this fine performance voyager. To learn more about her, please call and ask for Phillip Berman, central agent and owner of The Multihull Company. La Marene is one of those rare and exciting yachts a broker is ever so proud to represent.

A COMMENT ON SHORE POWER OPERATION AND CONFIG

La Marene is a 220v 50 Hz boat with European outlets and appliances throughout. The washing machine and watermaker are run on 50 Hz, so they are run off the generator unless hooked up to 50 Hz power. The dryer, icemaker, hot water heaters, battery chargers, microwave, etc will all operate from 60 Hz power if hooked up to 220v 60 Hz shorepower. In other words, La Marene is happy plugged in to either a US dock or a European dock, with the minor limitation of washing machine and water maker needing to run off the generator unless she is at a 50hz shore power system.

She runs with a Victron Energy unit Combi inverter/charger system. As an additional backup, She has a Victron battery charger (24v 100 amp output, 120-240v input). It can be powered by either the 220v feed from the generator or shorepower, or from a separate 110v, 30amp shorepower inlet on the port side transom. This redundant charger was basically an installed spare in case of a failure of the combi inverter/charger. Owner never uses it, but it is backup. The Victron combi has performed beautifully.
