Under the calm guidance of Phil Berman and the Multihull company I bought my beautiful yacht L'Aventura, attaining a dream of more than 20 years standing. And in Phil I met a friend. Live the dream - buy a Cat.

Welcome to The Multihull Company

Phillip Berman No matter what sort of catamaran or trimaran you are looking for we promise you expert, unbiased advice. We will save you thousands of dollars, months of time, and spare you hundreds of headaches. We promise.

You can choose any number of yacht brokers to help you buy or sell a catamaran or trimaran. But the vast majority of them are far from offshore multihull sailors. They are salespeople, pure and simple.

Our founder, Phillip Berman, has represented the United States in numerous international catamaran regattas, placing first, second, and third in world championship competition. A graduate of Harvard, Phillip has served as the Sailing Master of the Eastern Point Yacht Club in Gloucester, MA., and has authored many books on catamaran sailing and racing. Phillip has extensive cruising and racing experience in the South Pacific, California, Mexico, the Great Lakes, South Africa, the Atlantic, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

When it comes to multihull design and construction Phillip and his highly trained team of catamaran and trimaran experts know what works and what doesn't - and they are not afraid to tell you the truth. They understand the needs of every type of multihull sailor, from coastal cruisers to world voyagers, offshore racers to liveaboards. While choosing the right catamaran is a highly personal matter, most of us can avoid a serious buying blunder if we pay careful attention to the following ten commandments of catamaran buying: Read More

How Much Will My Catamaran Depreciate?
by Phillip Berman

We all know that boats, unlike real estate, tend to depreciate. For those who are about to buy a catamaran, the question is: How much will it depreciate? Here at The Multihull Company it is pretty common for someone to call and ask,

“Phil, how much am I going to lose over the next two years if I buy this boat?” Read More

The Perils of Internet Shopping
Here are 6 questions to ask when choosing a yacht broker.
by Phillip Berman

Many people set out to buy a catamaran or trimaran without relying on the advice and support of a professional yacht broker. All too often they end up with the wrong boat at the wrong price. Sadly, there are also plenty of buyers who recognize the need and value of working with an expert yacht broker, but end up with a broker who adds very little value to their search and purchase. Here are six questions to ask when picking a yacht broker: Read More
